Glad to see that the posting and reporting activity actually gets ads removed from eBay. I guess this self policing really helps with their authenticity guarantees.

I have now lurked long enough on OF that I thought so too!
Would have been impressed with a ‘bargain’ a few months ago
this was in the wrong thead ive moved it now lol

And it sold too. Makes you sick to think that someone paid that kind of money and is getting a fake watch.
Yea it’s heartbreaking seeing that happen and it’s every day, it’s not going through authentication either so the buyer likely won’t know until it’s too late

This doesn't qualify as a fake or a counterfeit, but I'm debating whether to report it. Case back inidicates that this is a Seamaster reference 14389-1. Serial number dates it to 1961 which would be within the range for this reference. I have two of this reference and have looked at many and I can't ever recall seeing one with hour indices with onyx inserts or a full crosshair dial. Owner claims that it's the original dial. When I asked whether the dial could have been transplanted frojm another reference, the seller responded that he didn't think that was possible but couldn't know what happened to the watch before he acquired it. What do you guys think? 😕
