Hi everyone! I have just become a chartered accountant after a tough three years, and as a gift have received My First Omega from my parents, which they bought at a market in Beccles, a small town in the East of England! Can anyone help identify the model, year, etc? I know nothing about the watch and it came with no paperwork. The antique dealer said it is 18ct and from the early 80s? He also said the box is original which I believe! The code on the back says 55789477. Many thanks!
The serial number on the back dates it to the mid-90s. I'll defer to someone who actually knows what they're talking about to give you more information. Congrats on your accountancy.
The best way to know what you have is by taking the case back off and look at the reference number printed inside. Any watchmaker can do that.
Is it a small ladies size? If so its probably the third dial variant (ivory with 3 roman and 8 index hour) version of this: http://www.omegawatches.com/planet-omega/heritage/vintage-watches-database?ref=15307 BA 596.2379
Hi Ash, it is 33mm in diameter, 34mm if including the dial on the side (crown?) Seems a little big for a ladies'? Thanks for your help this far! Would be fab to nail it and put a year to it.
Reference is 73203302. It's a gent's watch according to Omega, solid 18k gold case, (case is 055BA1962432), is officially 32.5 mm in diameter, and would take an 18 mm croc strap. Has a quartz Cal. 1532 inside. Cheers, Al
Hi Archer, thanks so much! Can you give a link or a date? Or another way to find it online as I'm new to all this and am unable to find it. I did find a very similar watch but it has black detail where mine has gold. Here is what I have found: http://www.omegawatches.com/planet-omega/heritage/vintage-watches-database?ref=14621
Simple Google search for "Omega ref. 73203302" gives this as one result: http://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/genuine-omega-deville-solid-18kt-gold-426921659 Your watch is not the same as the one you found on the Omega vintage database. I believe this watch is too new to be listed on the vintage database. I can't give you a link to where I'm looking my information up - not available to the public. Cheers, Al
Hero! So it's from 95/96. Is there anyway to get papers from omega as to it's authenticity? I'd love to have proof of its age and originality. I'd love to drop them an email and ask if they have any information on it but wouldn't know where to start!
You beat me to it Al! Was going to post that same link. To OP, you can get an extract of the archives from Omega through a boutique or official AD.. About $150.00 USD.
Much appreciated Italy, what do you mean by an extract of the archives? What would this include / look like?
Wow that looks awesome! So nice!! Shame its $150 otherwise i'd jump at it straight away. As much as I'd love that, looks like its about 20% of the watch's value. Is there no other option?
Nothing official.. Personally, I'd just have your watchmaker open the back, take pics of the movement and all info on the inside of the case back. You might want to have it checked out while your at it and replace the battery. Find a strap you like and wear it in good health..
Hi guys, I've been speaking to a watch shop about this but they keep asking for the model number? I gave them the reference above but they said that didn't fit, does anyone know the model number please? Many thanks!
The watch "model" number will be stamped or engraved on the inside surface of the caseback. If your "watch shop" doesn't know this, go somewhere else.
Oh! And congratulations on becoming a bean coun........sorry.....accountant. And your parents have selected a very nice memento to commemorate your endeavours into the real world. Enjoy it! What sort of strap are you going to put it on? Cheers Jim
