Ideally a watch winder should not be doing anything other than maintaining the state of wind - it really should not be adding to the state of wind.
If it continues to wind after the mainspring is already fully wound, it will add unnecessary wear to the wall of the mainspring barrel, the spring itself, plus all the winding parts.
Since this is a battery operated winder, you can't use a timer on the electrical outlet to reduce the number of TPD, so the only thing left is to turn it off for a few hours each day to reduce the winding it does. I would also let the watch run down at least overnight before putting it on the winder - so no point in putting on the winder after it's fully wound from wearing it all day.
