Hi guys, I'm very passionate with watches and I inherited this passion from my father. In the mid-70s he bought a brand-new Omega Speedsonic f300 with lobster case, wore it for decades and it's mine, I restored it and it has to me a HUGE value.
This watch comes with a 1170 bracelet with no end links, it looks fine on it but it's not the right bracelet. He bought it BRAND NEW with this 1170, so it never had a lobster bracelet.
As you can assume from the Omega website the unique calibre Omega 1255 it's only used in ST 388.0800 (Lobster bracelet) https://www.omegawatches.com/it/watch-omega-speedmaster-speedsonic-st-388-0800 , ST 188.002 https://www.omegawatches.com/it/watch-omega-speedmaster-speedsonic-st-188-0002 (Cushion case and leather strap) and... ST 188.001 https://www.omegawatches.com/it/watch-omega-speedmaster-speedsonic-st-188-0001

I think that the latter has to be my watch, that never had a Lobster bracelt nut it has a Lobster case, the Omega website says it has a corfam strap. I've extremely rarely seen something like a latex strap with a deplo for this whatch.

Can anyone please help me with this watch? I would love to restore it at the best, including the original strap.

Here enclosed you can see some photographs of my watch and a photo of this strange strap. Do you know this strap? 28171281_10215627625503304_43790978_o.jpg 28207714_10215627626343325_679848305_o.jpg 28217181_10215627620343175_2145105786_o.jpg 28058665_10215630571376949_3581138019965086334_n.jpg 28059155_10215630575657056_6036039922225063911_n.jpg

    Thanks!

I wrote to someone who may have an original Corfam for you. I hope he will send you a message.

Do you know the case number of the watch you have? There are straps and bracelets still available from Omega depending on the model.

As far as I know, there are only two Speedsonic case numbers. 188.0001 for the lobster and 188.0002 for the cushion cased. So he is searching for a bracelet to fit case number 188.0001.

I am waiting on my fully restored speedsonic from my watchmaker. I can share lots of info, but jackdaniels is a living encyclopedia of tuning fork watches. PM me and I can help or share info. I built my speedsonic from parts and my lobster bracelet came off a megasonic. I want to say that its clasp number 27 on the strap, but dont quote me on it. Since you have end links you are good to go. Dont lose the spring bar pins. The pins are uniquely designed for the lobster end links and are expensive.

Full lobster bracelet is 1212/203. Clasp number 27. There is a perfect NOS lobster bracelet on ebay, but they want a top dollar understandably. Cheaper route is to watch megasonic listings and snag one under $600. Cheapest route is to get clasp number 27 and the proper strap. I have seen listings for the corfam strap with a no 27 clasp, but I dont know what would exactly fit. Jackdaniels is your best bet to find a proper strap arrangement.

That's a lot of help, guys. As you said I already have the lobster endlinks (very strangely the seller back 40something years ago arranged them to the 1170) and I just purchased a NOS clasp number 27. Basicly what I miss is the "corfam" part. I'm thinking I can find a good artesan who can use the original parts I have in order to create a leather corfam-like strap.
What I need in this case would be the dimensions, assuming that the color is a very dark blue.
What do you think? It's something can be made?

On the other side, do you know if the Lobster steel bracelet is still available?

Go for a leather or Corfam strap. The stainless steel lobster looks awesome, but is, in my opinion, very uncomfortable. I would go to an Omega dealer and buy a strap, because you already have the end links and the clasp. The strap should still be available at Omega.

The contact, I was talking above, only has a complete strap (with end links and clasp) for sale.

So you say that an omega dealer can have/order the Corfam strap?

Do some searches on this forum and a few other big forums. I remember a discussion where people were hunting for the original corfam strap and eventually had a leather crafter make them a custom strap. If you want an original strap they are quite scarce. The lobster bracelet is rather bulky, so I agree a leather or corfam band will be much more enjoyable.

Will vary based on your location and currency, exchange rates, etc. But I would say around $800 US.

I don't know, but a similar band for no. 27 clasp and normal spring bars is still available. Just go there and ask.
