    Hello all!

I am totally new when it comes to watches, but ever since I saw this old Omega a couple of weeks ago I have been obsessed about finding one.

It wouldnt be a lie to say that I have spent on average 8 hours a day trying to educate myself on Omega vintage, I found this fantastic forum today and thought I might aswell ask the pro´s instead.

So I would like the kind people on this forum to help me find the right watch for me, I will post links to watches I have spotted on the swedish ebay so you guys know what kind of style I like. If they are fake please say so, that way I can learn.

Guess I like them "clean", no gold and just white looking face, I also like brown leather bracelet.

If you got a watch for sale that you think I would like please contact me, or if you have seen one for sale somewhere. It doesnt have to be exactly the models I posted, but it should look something like that.

    Help is very much appreciated

ps. I´m from Sweden so cant always express myself as good as I´d like.

Those are nice watches, but they are manual winding, so you must wind them every day. I always prefer automatic watches; they do not need winding.

    Thanks for your reply!

It´s not a big deal for me really, if the watch is nice I am more than happy to wind it each day.

Welcome! I would also take a look at the older Devilles and Geneves. There are many out there and should not be too difficult to locate. They are also automatic. :)

My personal favourites are the Constellation Pie Pans, case ref 168.005 - I have copied a couple of images I found on Google as examples. Also there is a lot of info available to help when choosing one of these at:

(one of the pics I stole from Desmond's site (above) - If I win the lottery I will be emailing Desmond to ask for the owners contact details :) )

Pre-1961 Genèves, whether manual winding or automatic, are some of the most under priced vintage Omega available - but not for long since their prices are starting to climb. I have a soft spot for Seamaster De Villes from the mid 60's too. Both of these models can be found in excellent condition for good prices.

Thanks alot guys really appreciate this.

nxw1969: I want the watch to be more "clean", it´s so frustrating not being able to express myself the way I would like in english. But I dont want any details on the face, just plain like the two watches I posted.

x350 xjr: That one I like, but the things on the side I dont like its too much. Haha man I really sound retarded, but what is it called the metall thing that goes around? I want it slim and thin like the one nxw1969 posted.

Kyle L: Now that watch I like!

Thanks again guys and keep the suggestions coming, I want to find my Omega :)

Be picky. It is worth it. You don't want to spend hundreds on a watch that isn't quite right!

Btw the models I posted, are they called Seamaster 30 and 600? If you know any for sale please let me know, I also liked the Devilles and Geneves recommended. As long as there is no gold anywhere on the watch.

Pitting on the caseback, refinished dial, discoloration on the movement.... and from Mumbai. Total strike out on that one.

Agree completely - I wouldn't wear that if it was given to me.

One here that looks reasonably tidy. Looks as though it has been worn but not abused. - Im not too clued up on the Seamasters though, so not sure it is all in order, but I'm sure someone on here will say if there are any issues with it, i.e a redial or incorrect crown?. A nice strap and a polish would make it look nice.

Not sure what the going rate is, as I have never bought one, but looking at other ones that have sold, it seems to be around £350+??? Someone else will be better able to give you a more accurate answer though.

As with any ebay purchase, you never know if it is safe to buy, but the buyer has 100% feedback, although he only has 31 in total, none as a seller and only one recent purchase which was a Jimmy Saville badge - make of that what you will!!!

That said, if you pay via paypal and insist on recorded delivery, make sure you initiate the payment by logging into Paypal, it should be fine. - dont log into Paypal using a link from the seller.
