    I believe it is from the 1940's and bought in South Africa.

    All that I can say from those photos is that the dial has been repainted. It would be helpful if you could open the watch and post photos of the inside.

    Honestly I am a little scared to try and open it...ive inherited it. When you say dial repainted you mean the roman numerals have been repainted on?

    It means the dial did not leave the factory looking like that. It was common for dials to be redone in the past if they had damage.

    the problem is what is actually inside the watch...

    I have a feeling the inside may also prove to be non factory, well at least not Omega’s factory but the only way to find out is to get opened. It certainly doesn’t look like any Swiss case I have seen but then it could have been locally cased.

    I seriously doubt that there is an Omega movement in that case.
