Please help identify this Seamaster

Hi, I wonder if somebody can help me identify this Seamaster. It belonged to my grandfather, and I´m told he got it for his 50th birtday in 1950 (but not 100% sure). Anyway, I noticed that the circle with minute markers on other vintage Seamasters goes either inside or outside of the numbers, while the minute markers on my grandfathers watch are underneath the numbers. Have not seen that anywhere else, so would appreciate if someone has some ideas about year and model. PS: The watch now belongs to my brother, and unfortunately this is the only photo I´ve got. Also, there is no seamaster logo on the back lid. Just a plain lid, with my grandfathers name engraved. Thanks.

Hello and welcome

Based on one (low quality) picture, I'm afraid it is difficult to provide any valuable response to your question.

To me, it seems an Omega caliber 265/266. Probably a redial as minute markers are too inner to the hour markers.

That said, I'm not that expert on the subject, others here might provide you with more accurate feedback

Hi mate.

The watch is probably a ref. 2891 and it is from the second half of the fifties.

There is a decent chance that it has been refinished at some point, but I wouldn't worry too much about the financial implications of this - having your grandfather's watch is surely the most important aspect 😀

BTW; @Eriks are you from Sweden? Denmark?

Norway.

Yes I see that the case looks very much alike. Thank you, much appreciated.
