Hello, all This is my first post. I am interested in buying a vintage omega, both for pleasure of wearing it and wanting to have a watch that will somewhat hold its value. I am looking for something like the following. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/111823094979?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:ITPurchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/371481637637?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:ITPurchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/141827639582?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:ITPurchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/231563560379?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:ITPurchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network Are these good buys or fakes? Should I hold out for something with box and papers? thank you very much in advance. Ed
First is a redial, Second is overpriced Third is overpriced. I just picked one up for half that. Fourth is an overpriced, redialed watch. Take a look at this one from a forum member: https://omegaforums.net/threads/fs-omega-seamaster-cosmic-black-dial.31461/
Thanks. I appreciate that a lot of collectors like original dials, I was just worried that they were fakes. Will something like this hold its value at all (assuming I don't pay too much) when it doesn't have the papers or box?
Under two conditions: 1. Don't overpay. 2. Make sure dial, case and movement match the description in the Omega Vintage Database (http://www.omegawatches.com/planet-omega/heritage/vintage/) I would recommend that you stay away from any watch sold out of India, South America or Asia (outside of Japan or Taiwan) unless you really know what your are doing. Hope this helps, gatorcpa
Could you tell me the reason for this? Because they tend to be fakes or refurbs done with poor workmanship etc?
Take a tip from one who has been conned already. Take you time. What looks too good generally is. Do not take much notice of the opinion of dealers. Decide exactly what you want. Learn as much as you can about your chosen. If you find something, ask here first!
