“Did you buy it?”
At the time, I had the Omega Speedmaster Calibre 321 Platinum on a leather strap.
When the model was quietly released, I received an invitation to a private event at the Marina Bay Sands boutique in Singapore. A small group of collectors gathered to see it in person. It was around the same period I collected my Omega Speedmaster Calibre 321 Canopus Gold Broad Arrow, so the timing felt significant.
Naturally, I asked if I could order the platinum flat-link bracelet separately to fit my watch.
The answer was immediate. “No.”
But I persevered.
Over time, I kept checking in, asking again, making my case. Then one day, the boutique came back with a definitive response. It was possible. But not simple.
The process would be long and costly. The watch had to be sent back to the Atelier in Biel. The case would need refinishing. Compatibility with the flat-link bracelet had to be assessed and confirmed. Installation would be completed there by the watchmakers themselves. No shortcuts. No exceptions.
But the result?
The perfect Speedmaster configuration: the asymmetrical case with crown guards, OEM flat-link bracelet, meteorite subdials set against an onyx main plate, powered by the legendary 321 movement. All in platinum.
This is what dreams are made of.
