Polished platinum has a distinctly brighter, more mirror-like white appearance than polished steel.

Whoops, here's my actual post:

After months of research and negotiating, I'm finally wearing a 311.93.42.30.99.001.

First impressions: it's incredible. The onyx dial is deeply black. The meteorite subdials shift with the light, and there's something cool about wearing 4-billion-year-old pieces of the moon on your wrist. The polished platinum has a brighter shine than steel. And the heft is real and noticeable. Of course, the 321 is the cherry on top.

I put it on an Artem sailcloth; it's a "serious" watch, but I wanted to dress it down.

This is my sixth Speedie, my third Pro, and I think it's the capstone of the collection.

Love the dial and love the platinum. As for the strap, it's not for me but it's your watch so good luck. As an aside, if the watch was gold I'd be completely meh! Also gold is well over twice the price of platinum yet watch manufacturers charge more for platinum cased watches than gold ones. Go figure. I have read that platinum is harder to machine but, really, modern manufacturing machinery will easily cope I'm sure.

Wow, the visibility of the hands in the sub-dials is ... interesting.

They definitely disappear at certain angles, especially in lower light. Fine in the sun, not so much otherwise. I guess it's a trade off for a tool watch that wanted to be luxury.

I'm with you--I never warmed up to gold, or to two-tone.

Nice; you could try matching the tone of the black on the bezel/dial with the strap for even more pop.

Indeed.

Here's a quick one...

I personally don’t like the color contrast of the sub dials but the platinum is sick! Would love to see how that weight feels on the wrist.

That's a beaut Clark! Sailcloth isn't my first choice but I would daily this for a few weeks to "test" it out for academic purposes.

Or Nato?

That looks great; really like the character on the dials. I've never done a NATO strap, but would be willing to give it a try. Where'd you get that one?

The NATO I'm not as much of a fan of, I'd be a bit worried it would wear down the case-back a bit too as it can do it to steel over time and PT950 is a whole lot softer
