Hi. Been a member for a while but this is my first post.

I wondered whether anybody had tried the newer leather with rubber backing straps that are on the newer PO models, on an older PO?

Specifically I have an 8500 Cal PO, 45.5mm. I have separate leather and rubber straps. I wear the leather almost exclusively but it’s showing it’s age. The leather/rubber combination appeals to me because of the longevity I would hopefully get with it. I like the integrated look of OEM straps. I know there are thickness differences between older models and newer ones. Thanks in advance.

Not sure if it’s the same thing but I had my 43.5 8900 PO on a speedy racing strap and deployant for a while. That was leather with a rubber backing.

It wore really well, looked great and was Uber comfy. Only reason it’s not still on that strap is because it was a blue dial PO and black strap. I’d highly recommend it though.

Thanks for the reply. Was it a curved end strap? That’s what I really like. I know others probably don’t mind, and I know they’re expensive but it’s what I think makes it look good. I like how the new straps look I’m just unsure whether they fit as well as older OEM straps would. I assume they are made to fit the new models perfectly and I believe there are some small differences between new and old incarnations.

Yeah it was curved ended. I’m sure I posted a pic of it up here on a thread. If not I’ll see if I still have that pic and post it again.

Being curved it suited the watch head but without the completely fitted look if you know what I mean.

Found it. Here you go. B6BC0DC1-C64E-46A4-A3B4-645EB4AA55AB.jpeg D560D6AA-4E63-4A97-82C9-7B9E97560D84.jpeg

Edit: That's obviously a 21mm strap, but almost the same thing is available in 22mm which I think is the 45.5mm lug width. Well worth the money IMHO. I see them for £175 brand new, possibly cheaper if you hunt around

That does look good mate. Can I ask where you’ve seen them for sale. I’m in conversation with the OB near me. I gave them my watch model number and they came up with a random list of OEM watch straps they think should fit. They got it completely wrong. I have two straps that are OEM that already fit it perfectly. They’re apparently going to speak with Omega and get back to me. I know how that conversation will go. They won’t suggest any other straps that they don’t consider to have been made specifically for my model. Even though as you’ve proved others will fit pretty well.

Watchobsession.co.uk. I’ve had a couple of genuine omega straps from there.

Thanks mate. I’ve looked at them in the past. I think I ordered one once and it wasn’t in stock.

Ah yeah, same here. When they do get stock they’re ace, seems a bit random what they do have in stock sometimes though.

Can’t be any worse than the wait time on the new seamaster rubber strap and buckle though!

    Good luck.

If you can get to a Boutique, they have a large book with hundreds of pages like this for every watch.

Sorry just realised I keep quoting everyone’s comment. I’ve figured out how not to, now.

I’m not sure about all older models, but someone on here should know.

I fancied the orange alligator, but it has platinum stitching and cost around £1,150!

I like the OEM straps and your watch looks really good on them. I'm suffering from having an older model and the newer straps are better looking IMO. That's why I was interested in putting mine on a new strap. Just concerned about the fitment.
I'm always amazed how mine changes how it looks with a different strap on it. with the black leather, it brings out the black dial brilliantly. On the bracelet it emphasises the bezel more. I would post a photo but not sure how to.
