Planet Ocean Chronograph (45.5mm) - Question

Hi guys,

first and foremost: I really prefer bigger watches - over 43mm and up. I already have a "Big Blue" (45.5mm) & "Blue Side of the Moon" (44.25mm) in my collection and I can pull that size off, I guess.

But still I have a question to all you PO Chrono (45.5mm) owners out there: how do you handle the thickness of 19mm? Is it a big hindrance or still manageable to pass as a daily wearer?

I'm asking because I got really good price from my AD for this titanium model below, but I am really on the fence about the height...
My Big Blue is already over 17mm thick and its OK for me, but those 19mm might be too much maybe?

Would love to hear your experience if you own that or similar one!

Huge thanks upfront and looking forward hearing from you!

There's no escaping that this is a Chunky Monkey 馃榾

I have a narrow wrist so I get the full effect of this very substantial watch. And I absolutely love it. I have always thought of it as a piece of dive equipment that I can wear in everyday life (I am a diver, so that's probably why I think of it that way).

I should add that I have the titanium-cased version (with titanium bracelet) which keeps the weight of this massive watch down to a reasonable level. I'd be happy to answer any other specific questions you may have.

Hi, thanks a lot for your feedback! My anticipated version is titanium on rubber, although I look forward to acquire that titanium bracelet down the road as well... Today I went and tried it on the second time - it doesn't feel too big tbh. Feels very similar to my Big Blue in fact. Only in direct thickness comparison (especially off-wrist) chrono does dwarf even that 17mm ceramic chunk of watch...

Anyhow, really glad to hear that you are comfortable wearing it every day!
By the way, I am diver too, - what a coincidence. 馃榾

It is indeed very reassuring to know that your watch is probably capable to... aww just capable. 馃槈

Again huge thanks and looking forward hearing from you.

Chunky monkey? How about Chunky Gorilla? Comparing my Mudmaster GWG 1000 to my PO (non-chronograph)

Thanks, guys. For that matter - how are your rubber bezel inserts holding up? Any signs of fading or discolouration?
I have indeed the same thing on my BigBlue, but it is still too young to tell...

@Jones in LA

I found winding rotor quite hearable on this watch, especially compared to my other Omegas. Can you confirm that or am I just getting too paranoid? 馃槈

Thank you!

I too am thinking of purchasing this 19mm thick watch. I assume it can be used for diving as it is labelled for 600m. But can you use the chronometer under water? I searched for an owners manual and cannot find one online.

Thanks,

Ali

Reporting back: got this beauty at last. Loving it to bits so far!
Thickness is not an issue indeed. I don't feel much of a difference compared to BigBlue and others. Really appreciate the low weight though: with only 130g it is feather light on my wrist.

@Ali Haas can highly recommend this watch to you. Don't think too long though 馃槈 - Omega is going to increase prices in the beginning of September.

Hi, as I mentioned above, it is light as a feather on wrist (on caoutchouc band it weighs only 130g).
I also tried the same PO Chrono in steel - it is a night and day difference.
