He’s a big fan of the B52s and “does the dirty dog” like it’s never been done before😀

Love that band. My cat loves the cramps, and the pussy does do the dog ;0)

I'm glad to find I'm not the only one who wears a nice watch to the gym. I usually wear an Omega Apnea and use the regatta-style timer to keep track of rest intervals.

If my latest purchase goes through, I'll be able to rotate my stainless steel 1018 gym watch with this 1013 one. They both have the 1570 movement, and both are on Jubilees. Sweat doesn't bother either one.

Love your orange strap! I wear my SMP 300m to the gym every night. Seen a fair share of Seamasters and sports Rolexes in gyms over the years. They’re rugged sports watches, after all - always nice to see them in their element.

I thought I was the only one! I mostly train for for powerlifting, so there shouldn't be as much risk of damage from shock. Though, I do have to be careful not to whack it into the iron.

FWIW the strap was from zealande.

Well the latest purchase of another 1013 didn't go through...but I like the late model 1013 on the Jubilee so I'll put them back together and save the straps for the early model. The Constellation has been getting a lot of wrist time...a great pleasure to look down at my wrist and see it there.

In my last year at secondary school I guessed (correctly) that if I skived off the first PE class of the year, my name wouldn’t be on the register and I wouldn’t ever be missed.

That was 55 years ago and I haven’t been inside a gym since. Can’t say I missed it or have any regrets

I appreciate that it’s not usual to comment on one’s own post but, having reflected on my earlier post, I now realise that by working out how to avoid PE, I was “thinking outside the box” - before that expression became popular.

With hindsight, I can now see that my very enjoyable adult career as a criminal defence lawyer was not quite as unexpected as I may previously have thought.

After looking at my two steel 1018's I started feeling bored. Time for a change...without spending any money. It was suddenly obvious...change what I was wearing them on. The black dial was on the strap and the silver dial was on the Jubilee bracelet. By flipping that around it is like getting two new watches...without having to sell the old ones.

Strap changing can really perk up a watch 😀

Just lovely. 🥰

With the exception of vintage, I’m not much of a Rolex guy. Yet the 1018 has me smitten. With 7.25” wrists, most vintage Rolex’s (talking Airkings and OP’s, of course) don’t appeal - 34mm look wee, in my view. But this? Stunning examples, John. Down the rabbit hole I go.

(The gym? Gym? Say it ain’t so. That’s what my 1990 Tag Heuer 1000 is for 😜. Just don’t tell us if you crack one of these against a weight stack)

One of my 1018s says hi. I tend to work out with a vintage Yema superman quartz though

“One of…”. Rub it in, rub it in.

The 1018s are 36mm...same size as the 1016 Explorer...in fact sometimes referred to as the "business suit" Explorer. The black gilt dial is very rare...wish it had the original dauphine hands. The silver dial is the later model...some very late ones had the hacking feature. The only thing I love more is my 1013...the same watch but in 18k...again, 36mm, but even in gold, it is very stealthy.

Beautifully understated Rolex model, John. These 1018s are my kind of watches: sharp overall design, clean dial, crisp case & tasteful in all situations. Versatile as all heck. 😀

Strikingly similar to my Omega Seamaster/DV 166.020(?). c. 1965

I do love gold. I've been wondering why Omega took the direction they did in so many of their watches and made so many gold cap on stainless, rather than going all gold. Very few models like that are found in Rolexes...it is usually all steel or all gold. The only exception are the Rolexes that had an obvious two tone, such as a gold bezel and crown on an otherwise steel watch. Certainly all gold vs a gold cap is more expensive, but back in the 50s and into the early 70s, Omega was as prestigious a watch as Rolex...but it is as if Rolex went up market and Omega choose to go down market. The movements for both brands were always equal and of high quality.

I literally do everything with the Sub on - gym, cycling, dishes, and recently, painting the walls.

Exactly how they are supposed to be worn. Bravo to you, sir.

Thank you for putting that on a proper brown alligator strap, and not some hipster tan calf leather anachronism

My plain Gym Watch and constant companion since I don't know when. Wear the shite out of it and never think twice about it.
