Freed from @Spacefruit 's climate controlled dungeon, where it was languishing next to row after row of stern black (and the odd chocolatty) watches, and back into the light, I present you my latest lovable Connie, the pink pie pan Deluxe!

To me a Constellation watch is quite simple. It is a chronometer (or chronometre) certified watch with a pie pan dial. Pie pans are the best. Apparently non pie pans do exist, but I choose to ignore them... Unable to see them. Like a T-Rex cannot see something if it doesn't move, I'm unable to register non pie pans. Speedmaster lovers can rave about their stepped dial (which supposedly is so superior in design to the domed dial), but in reality that step cannot even trip a gnat. The pie pan on the other hand is dramatic. It is a love it or hate it design. If you are peculiar and you hate it, please log off and register over at learnhowtoappreciatebeautifulthings.com. But I digress... Pics!

Disclaimer: the above adoration of the pie pan is only meant as my personal opinion (and to upset @Peemacgee who has an unhealthy adoration for the dome dial).

N.b. this hardly qualifies as a review, but I'm just excited to post the few pics I've taken today. I will do a side-by-side with my pink Longines Conquest Deluxe when I've picked that one up at my watchmaker's later this week.

That is one of the most beautiful Connies I have ever seen, and especially so because of the dirty-blonde strap you have chosen. Just gorgeous!

The strap came with the watch. It's an oldie from Omega.

At first I wanted to swap it for a brown alligator strap, but I'm starting to appreciate the blonde.

    Gorgeous ::love::

Oh and when you pick up the Longines you can just drop off the Connie and I'll collect it with the rest of mine in a week or two. I've already let NR know, so he's expecting it and he says it's absolutely fine :D

What a beauty! It is really something special.
I had previously dismissed the constellation because of its size but seeing your newly acquired watch ...

Well actually they look much better when not attached to an ugly blond strap, as anyone can plainly see. In fact, Dennis has told me this many times.
"Yes it's beauty alright Steve and I love that strap, but let's get to the Speedmasters "

Fantastic Connie, @BartH ! I'm sorry that you now cannot see this dome dial Connie, but I'm glad to have been one enabler of your obtaining your new piece!

Piepans are definitely the shizzle. That is a nice medallion you have there. Well, let's face it; that watch is practically pristine.

Cool macro shots too; well done.

If this were my watch, I'd find a different strap I could live with and preserve the blondie.

    It's a period correct original.

    IMG_0152.JPG

I think these were made from elephant hide. If I'm correct, it would illegal to make a replacement today, let alone import one.

You are correct: all trade in elephant's 'stuff' (including the bracelets made by its hair) are illegal.
    Thanks for pointing that out!!

For yourself. It would be almost impossible to get another one at any price.

Also, if you ever wanted to sell the watch for any reason, it would be worth more with an original strap, which you can always document with period advertisements like the one shown earlier.

    Hope this helps,
