Pink dial for real on 1970s Seamaster?

Hi everyone,

All those reeditions of sports 1970s models with integrated bracelet such as Nivada Grenchen F77 or Tissot PRX have gotten me to poke around, and with great surprise the watch below came up.

Since most of it is clearly all original and worn to death, could that pink dial be original?
Just curious, not buying (obviously).

Holy Moly that's one hell of an ugly watch. Gold plate removed for 95%...and the dial is pure fantasy

Damn, this is disappointing -somehow and since the rest of the watch is clearly “unmessed with” I was hoping to learn something about an original pink dial.

Wow - the dial, the case, the bracelet, the price(!), and the seller's tediously elaborated scoring system - all are utter garbage!

Absolutely. That was the idea.

There was an eBay seller in Korea that was selling fantasy dial Omegas a few years ago that were actually gorgeous- the fonts were excellent, colors rich and striking- truly done by someone who was an artisan. They weren’t trying to deceive, just making bold colored redials.

I reached out to them asking if I could buy just a dial for one of my wife’s Seamasters that had a damaged dial. They were very polite and said they didn’t have any spares as they refinish them as they come in- but that would have been nice to be able to choose your color for an aftermarket dial like that.

i bought mine (my profile pic) when i was still very new to vintage, and the cracks in the paint tricked me at first. My theory is that at some point perhaps in the 70s or 80s there was a redialer here in Japan that was refinishing these dials and had the plates for omega, since I have since come across a good number, and they otherwise do look very nice. They don't look like the refinishing was done any time recently too.

I haven't been able to bring myself to part with it even once I realised its most likely a redial, as for one I do love the colour, but also this particular watch was a pretty key part on my watchmaking journey and I learnt a lot about the 550 series of movements working out the issues on this one.

"These rose colored glasses
That I'm looking through
Show only the beauty
'Cause they hide all the truth

So I just keep on hopin', believing
That maybe by counting the many times, I've tried
You'll believe me when I say, "I love you"
And I'll lay these rose colored glasses aside"

these gradation dials are actually remarkably common, especially in these tv case shapes, i see them fairly often on the japanese auctions.
many different colours too, blues and browns being the most common, but pinks and reds ive also seen.

Green as well - serviced this a number of years ago, but pretty sure the dial was all original...

The same seller also has brown and blue examples- I’d be hard pressed to opine on originality but I would not question the brown one and the blue one seems pretty crisp.

you are giving me hope that perhaps mine is an original dial... especially when there is so much variety seen in the c-case dials

It’s more later watches than that, more 70s era Cal 101x / 102x stuff really
