When pilots check in for work, they are often greeted by some suitable safety poster, just as a reminder. An example is ‘Saftey is no accident’ or ‘Keep checking, double-checking’.

Well… a pilot friend of mine was visiting an airline in the Middle East – and saw this:

I would imagine those terms are mutually exclusive.

As a lot of people that wear large flashy watches also tend or wear them loosely or very loosely. Remember they have to fall far enough down the wrist, so other people will notice ( even if the wearer has a jacket on ) how flashy and stylish they are. I can actually imagine them catching on various switches that might be better left alone during flight.

I can sort of imagine them banning large and/or flashy watches, but stylish ones? That's just wrong.

I am in Tucson AZ currently and we flew in on a Delta MD-88 ( will fly out the same way) I checked the cockpit for watches and any Mad Dogs, no sign of either :(

Large watches are overrated. I am thinking that my wifes Omega on my wrist will give my Sub a run for its money. So masculine...

Large and flashy in certain Middle East countries would be just that.
@Mad Dog would be seen as Mr. Discrete & Modest in those areas for sure.....

Been through Dubai airport a few times and Hubolt was the watch on most officials wrists.
You can buy gold in a vending machine which was pretty cool but weird.
