I have a 7 1/4 inch wrist and I am thinking of downsizing to the PO Cal 8500. Would love to see any PO pics of 45s and 44s on your wrists. Right now I am not feeling the love for my PO that I had 10 years ago when it sang to me. I swapped out the orange bezel for the black to see if I felt different but not really. Breaking up is hard to do as the song goes...whatyathink?
My wrist is a little larger than yours, yet I cannot muster any appreciation for the really large diameter watches. Really big watches are like the tail fins on a '59 Cadillac; too much of a good thing.
Still in love with my 45.5 chrono. I don't wear it for a week or two due to rotation, but I fall back in love every time I put it on. Weird thing is I tried on a 42 on metal a few weeks ago, and crushed on it, but I remember not liking it when I chose my PO years ago. So, maybe the solution is to change the strap.
I have a 45mm Breitling Avenger, and knew that I wanted something smaller and lighter when I bought my PO. Although my 7 1/2in wrists wanted the 45mm PO, I listened to my head and I'm SO happy I did! I wear my PO in regular rotation with three other watches, but still gravitate towards it when I can't make up my mind. Its perfect in any attire, and can withstand any beating you throw at it while still ne minimal enough under a button down shirt sleeve. You name it, and the versatility of 42mm just simply works. The best advice I can give is do not compare the 42 next to the 45 in the store. Ask the rep to take the 42 out, put it on immediately and take a gander of sheer beauty. Good luck Here's a pic of my first string.
Nope, my PO is all 42. Like I mentioned, I wanted the 45 because I knew my wrists could pull it off. But decided to go for the 42 so it would be more comfortable as a daily wear watch, and I was right. I dont think twice tossing it on. Unlike my Avenger which sometimes takes a backseat due to thickness and weight. The photo makes the PO look bigger due to angle)
A Planet Ocean 42mm on [my] relatively narrow wrist. This is a fun strap alternative that may give your old PO a new lease on life
it is very tricky to judge this watches on cell phone pics because the camera really distorts. here are a couple of pics. The one with orange numerals is 45, the other one 42. interestingly on this pics the 42 looks bigger.
As others have intimated, don't discount the strap change. You can start cheap to see if you like it, then purchase whatever strap you might like for long-term use. While I like my vintage Seamaster 300 on a bracelet, the black strap just called out to me. Tom
Well, maybe you are right and this PO 45mm relationship needs a bit of spicing up...a change of dress to go out...maybe...but which one will do the trick. I had Steveo straps make the black strap for me some time ago it's cloth and leather.
