Just won this on the bay. Thought the price is abit high but I guess thats how it is with ebay.

Anyone else here owns a 850 Alpinist?

I had one of these for a while. A nice little watch that has a really striking dial. They seem to be growing in popularity. I sold mine a while ago to fund something else though.

    I see!

Do you remember if the crown is "correct"? Looks abit burnished to me. Might have to look for a replacement.

I have owned this model. very nice watches. Your crown is a replacement, and not correct.

One of the coolest things about this model is the lume on the tip of the second hand. I've never seen it on any other watch! The case backs are also first-class.

My crown was a little different, but that may have to do with slight variations across a couple of models put out in quick succession. My case and crown appeared to be all stainless, but I've seen other ones that were plated base metal. It's not unusual to see a well worn crown (the crown on a hand winding watch is going to see a lot of use). My crown was signed with SW, which may mean Seiko Waterproof.

That one's in nice condition. Most are beat up.
I think the original crown was probably SS with an S on it. Just judging by pics I've seen, no actual knowledge.

Do you have a pic of the original crown? I'll probably go hunting for it haha.

Thanks to all the information and replies regarding this piece :) I'll post more pics when I get it.

I rue the day I let mine go! :( Though it did go to a great home in Queensland.

    Lovely watches!

I saw yours up on the ‘Bay and was tempted, glad you got it. It looks great bar the worn crown, a small detail, which are supposedly hard to come by........ though I seem to remember Mike from Fratello managed to find a replacement for his ok with a bit of searching. Good luck.

    All the best

Thanks for that but unfortunately, I messaged the seller that I won't be purchasing it. The shipping and import taxes mounted to 70+ pounds which added to the cost of the watch.

I believe it should be back on sale.

Also, the seller has 0 Seller feedback which left me abit uncomfortable, and he has 15 buyer feedback. Thought it was abit dodgy but he did refund my money and cancelled the transaction.

I was looking forward to this piece but I guess patience is the name of the game here. :)

    I just wondering, given that
    a) the shipping costs and import taxes can be ascertained when you bid (even if it's not stated, you can ask)
    b) you knew the seller had 0 seller feedback before you bid

Why did you even bid when you knew this, only to cancel the sale later based on information you already knew when you put in your bid? :cautious:

    a) He didn't reply any of my messages when I asked about the shipping method and if it could be changed. I figured i put in a bid anyways.

    b) this was my bad, I saw 15 feedback and I assumed it was a mix of at least some buying and selling. Only after receiving no replies AFTER i made the purchase, then i delved deeper into the the feedback system to find out that he had 0 as a seller.

But that said, he did refund me my money but he has not responded to my messages.

Hmm... I reproduce the ebay listing here, which shows the shipping to Singapore was clearly stated as GBP30.33. Same watch, same picture, with an ebay auction which ended 2h 15 min before your post.

Indeed the seller has 15 feedbacks, 0 as a seller

I don't quite understand whats your agenda here?

Here's my refund page which states the import charges. Like your page suggests, I didn't know there was an additional 40 pounds import charge.

So I had abit of a shock when PayPal charged me a total of 70 pounds just for the shipping and import. This was something that added to the final cost which to me, didn't seem that quite ideal hence the cancelation.
