Finally picked up the black leather calf with white stitching and Ceramic/Ti buckle. It fits great and the deployment buckle makes it much easier to take the watch on and off. The band has great detail with the white stitching that works with the white markings on the face etc. It has the red stitching on the back that the original Nylon band has that looks nice with the red on the rotor. The exposed outer clasp is all Ceramic (no desk diving scuffs) with the non exposed parts being Titanium. Ive always been a Ti fan too so its nice to have a little where its needed. Yes it is a bit pricy $1k US for both, but given the price of the watch and the materials used I decided to go for it. It definitely scratched my itch for wanting a new watch as it feels like a new watch now
Very nice. Does it have a serial number or something by which I can find or ask for it in my local Omega boutique?
Could you please pm me where to get the clasps? I've been given the dead end countless times. Thanks Alex
Yes a GSoTM strap is in the works from what I hear. @alford78 you can get these straps from your nearest Omega boutique.
I don't need the strap. I bought a strap long ago. I just need the grey ti ceramic clasp. Same scenario with them?
You wouldn't have to because you can buy the watch with the deployant in the first place now (two versions on the Omega homepage).
One question: Is the clasp really scratch resistant as it has a brushed finish (uneven surface)? I always thought that only even surfaces on ceramic are scratch resistant (see Rado for example).
It's brushed and the exposed clasp is 100 percent ceramic. It should not scratch because it's ceramic and not huge like a submariner or seamistress which are notorious for scratching. Yes its not cheap but the clasp and strap cost me about the same as the tax would be on a new ds so a small price to really class up the watch. Yes the new versions come with the clasp if you choose that option but you will still have to buy the leather strap for the original DS as it comes in nylon.
Also a lot of ceramic watch cases have brushed surfaces such as panerai, iwc and many of the new DS versions so I'm not sure where you heard brushed scratches easier. Maybe it does on SS.
Richard371 do they sell the deployant separtely? Do you know how much it is as I have all the straps already, just need this new deployant.
They definitely sell the clasp separately, but its roughly $650-750 depending on the boutique. See thread here for details: https://omegaforums.net/threads/ceramic-moon-watches-new-clasps.30616/
I think the ceramic/ti clasps only work wth the new straps that are for the DS models. I don't think they work with the other omega straps. Might want to check with a boutique.
Thanks. I know guys swear by them but I'm just not a fan of nato straps at all. Only way I would want a nato strap is on the original speedmaster worn in space.
You missed my point. That makes two of us - not fans of NATO straps. I do enjoy those Omega OEM clasps!
Not true. All of the new SOTM deploy straps are compatible with the older deploy clasps (94521813, 94521833, 94521883, etc) and vice versa. The TI/Ceramic clasp WILL NOT work with the original tang-style straps that came with the DSOTM and GSOTM, and the original ceramic tang buckle that came with the DSOTM and GSOTM WILL NOT work with the new deploy style straps.
