Not an expert on this model, so help me pick a beater! 1603 on the left (70's) or right (60s)?

Left likes: sigma dial, sunburst; dislikes - my 1801 already has a dial just like that

Right likes: dial looks sharp; dislikes - not into the vertical brush, lume does not look nice

edit: ignore the bracelets, they can be swapped out

On the right, are the endlinks fitting well? They seem too narrow...

Other than that, sigma dials may be more interesting, but I prefer the finer print of the older one.

The lume dots on the right one don't look very happy and are partly missing. Bracelet looks tired and endlinks are not fitting properly?

A 1603 from the 60's shouldn't have alpha hands instead of stick?

    Mine has anyway:

Early one have leaf hands, you may find stick hands from mid60s I think.

Lume dots on the one on the right have indeed gone grey, but they are all there (no missing lume)

    The devil's in the details...

I thinks it is your preference, and how it looks in real life not in pictures. Pointy hands or not, sigma dial, black or white indexes, lettering, and of course general condition. Tough call indeed.

My pick may be the older one (pointy hands I like, but you may verify they are original) .

Leaning towards that too. At wrist length the 60s watch looks better, and I can swap the bracelets / end links

I think you'll be very happy with either one, and the differences are very subtle. Based on that one photo, I like the condition of the one on the left a bit more. The lugs are thicker, the bezel is less worn, and the lume is more attractive. I have one that is very similar (although not a sigma dial), and I have happily worn it on an on jubilee as well as an old folded oyster. The engine-turned bezel definitely turns the DJ into a daily-wearer IMO.

The dial on the DJ on the right has a much nicer aesthetic in that photo, if it holds that look at different angles I'd definitely lean towards that one.

Based upon the condition I would personally go for the left one, although the older one does show some more character.. Depends on your personal taste.

    Hi

I would go left , the case looks to be in overall better condition.... and so you have two Rolies with same dial... as long as your 1801 is not in white gold i think that is ok...

    Good Hunting

I would go left. Better case condition, better lume condition. Just overall better. And LOVES me a sigma dial!

And wouldn’t the right one be radium instead of tritium?

Edit. I totally didn’t see the T on the right dial, I just assumed it would be radium :taunt:
