It's amazing how rarely we go out and wander in the city. Tonight my wife and I took in some incredible Cirque du Soleil. Simply astounding. I highly recommend it if you have the opportunity.

It had been years since visited le Vieux Port and Vieux Montréal. So many cool improvements. Quite beautiful. Only had my smart phone to snap a few....

The photo below was snapped while someone else's flash went off. Interesting result.

A more attractive aspect of my home area than the humorous photo I posted earlier in the thread. I took this one on 17 June as a pleasant view across a valley and not for any other reason.

The WTAFIT?? moment came somewhat later, when I zoomed in on the nearest house.

    Burlington, Ontario, Canada

which means today is Canada Day!

    ensign.png

which means nice thoughts about pretty places (Peggy's Cove) between beers
    037.JPG

there's a dove snoozing on the patio (I'm weeding it later before the party)
    P1040035.JPG

there's ducks in the friggin pool again (chase them out before the party).
    P1040036.JPG

and there's flags in the tree out back (the 1967 Centennial flag was found in a surplus store in Ottawa 2 years ago... so its basically new)
    P1040050.JPG

as for where I live? My wife says she lives in Burlington, but I live in the garage...

    HAPPY CANADA DAY!

Inspired by some of the previously posted beautiful places to live , I decided to tread Chesters streets & walls this evening taking pictures to share , Chester was founded by the Romans & it has some great history that has been added to over the millennia , Chester used to be a bigger port than Liverpool until the Dee silted up & was also famous for its salmon , you might be able to make out some old carving into the river wall below of the ships that used to ply their trade on the Dee , also it was a royalist city during the English civil war & was the scene for the battle of Rowton moor where King Charles witnessed his armies defeat . Chester racecourse is the oldest racecourse in Britain & is a Mecca for race goers , I've included a picture of some of my local drinking haunts , & the bear & billet is where John Lennons grandmother was born & also very close to this pub is nowhere cottage which is thought to be the inspiration for the Beatles classic Nowhere man which was written by John . And the current Mr Bond Daniel Craig was born in Chester . image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg

An absolutely stunning place. It's been quite a few years since I was last there. My ancestors came from a small village in that area of England. Thanks for the beautiful photos.

Lovely city. We've still got a few left worth visiting: Durham, Shrewsbury, Salisbury, Edinburgh, Canterbury, Cambridge, Winchester, Lincoln, Norwich come to mind plus the most beautiful and unspoilt of the lot, York.

Look harder. There is something very strange there and I still don't know what it is.

No! It's the skeleton, or whatever it is, in the back yard!

Gottya. Or the skeleton could be a ghost or a folded umbrella. Do you see the UFO in the sky above the right hand chimney though?

Every summer for the past 14 years this has been my workdesk view where I write and tie flies for 4-6 weeks, It's in the Adirondacks in upstate New York. The Ausable river is in the notch below the line of white pines. This is what we fishermen call our 'home water'. I get up at 5am, fish till 9am, write till 4pm, then fish till 9pm--. And when my time is up, I load everything and the dog into the car and drive back to Chicago, which is--well, another picture, another story.

The UFO will be a bird. Good call on the umbrella though, I think you might have nailed it.

Have to disagree. I think the UFO dropped off its passenger.

Adirondacks are beautiful. Visited a couple of years ago while seeing some family in the northern part of NY State.
