ORCHI...... you must be kidding. Is that Guy still around? after he Humiliated himself on the Vintage Rolex Forum many years ago? He just make up things. A Disgrace..... kind regards. achim
Do you mind sharing what orchi did in VRF? From my Google search it seemed like he was initially the go to guy to vet rolex pieces and such.... But now his ig is just all about insulting dealers.
What happened with lot 39 (the blue soleil 105.003) ? They called this lot and then told that a potential bidder was not available on the phone. and then the lot was passed. Very strange IMO. But this matches with the listing
look, regarding Orchi, you have to do your own research. there are tons of exchanges with that person. regarding authentication of a SUB Big Crown and a few others..... daytona dial is next..... you have to use google now. search for Orchi Rolex and you find a few things . the new VRF changed over to tapatalk and the old messages are mostly not accessible. start here: https://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=189467 . In the beginning it is mostly the ramblings of an attention seeking newbie, who craves Internet fame and uses a strange pattern of communication. he talks about himself in the 3. Person. reminds me a bit of the current USA president........ hmmmmm....., there is a thought. kind regards. achim
Even more reason why ringside seats between these two strange characters would be gold. However I would now change the format from a boxing ring to an oil pit......
Yes, Phillips and I have very different definitions of "extremely attractive" and "extremely appealing condition."
Well I had a wonderful time siniffing around the auctions. See my take on all the 2915’s here http://speedmaster101.com/blog/november-2018-geneva-2915s/
Damn... Absolute beauties. Thanks for showing what they really looked like. Whoever got these 'cheap' probably lucked out...
Agreed. Absolute beauties. Could part of the reason for their "cheapness" be that there were two good examples on offer in the same auction as opposed to just a single featured example? Reduced immediate scarcity can have an emotional impact. Less irrational excitement for The One Grail. Examining two pieces side-by-side can make you focus a teeny bit more on each piece's flaws and ding both in the process. When bidding on the first one, possible to be more conservative knowing a second is coming up. When bidding on the second, easy to get immediately pegged by the hammer of the first that just happened. Understood that when operating in this stratosphere, we are typically talking about very smart, patient money (guessing there are specific formulated mental strategies for dealing with this exact situation and a host of others). But would still hazard that, with pieces this rare and a market this volatile, the short-term psychology of it still came into play (not being in the room, of course) Would love to hear if auction regulars think this is plausible
Very interesting and informative. Thank you. Makes me wish I’d gone to Geneva to see these watches close up so thank you for sharing.
