Any thought on why this sold for so much?

I own a '58 2913 with lolli that I knew had a similar serial, and also went to South Africa. When i checked it's only 3 out, so was probably assembled by the same guy on the same day.

Fyi i'd take alot less than £60k for it.

I have very little experience with this ref but it looked too perfect to me as did the 2915, but that was my gut feeling.
However those with the means and hopefully the experience and knowledge thought differently.
Also I was told the bezel had been removed and authenticated from a stamp/mark on the back of the bezel if I recall correctly.
Anyway they were out of my reach that’s for sure!

    Indeed.
Very nice looking, great/insane record resultat and all correct parts - well, each part on their own, but not together IMO. I doubt very much this watch (serial/movement) left the factory looking like this :cautious:
Ever seen a -7 subreference produced in march 1958? That's -1 to early -3 territory. The -7's were produced mostly in 1961 ! And a march 1958 2913 really should have the BA hands, like the @smitty190373 example.
    For starters...

So wrong hands and case back on a -1 or a '58 movement transplanted to a '61 -7 case or....?

My -7 lollipop is a 16.6 million serial from 'May '61 with small arrow hands
