·(I was going to post this in the Ed White wearing two watches thread, but then thought better.)
Peter O’Toole also wore two watches, one on each wrist.
In a 1983 appearance on Letterman, when asked, he said that this way he didn’t have to remember which wrist his watch was on when he wanted to know the time.
For Peter O’Toole fans: This is a compilation video that’s long but wonderful, if you’re so inclined. That ‘83 interview is first. Quite an amazing story teller. Richard Harris is every bit as good in his appearances.
Be sure to see the huge Letterman send off of MacArthur Park, Richard Harris’s only hit song (!), starting at 2:44:00. I think they did an amazing job.
