There is quite a lot choose from maybe a bit more information about what you like or are likely to use? Do you want modern? vintage?, sports watch? dress watch? Does that budget include service? Is the budget fixed at a firm 1000dollars?

Well, I wanted to leave it open and see what came out of it. However unless there is a a very persuasive reason, I do want to keep it to $1K. (Sadly I'm easily persuaded these days!)

For $1k you could buy a watch. Not an expensive watch though. Maybe even a vintage Omega watch.

My answer is as specific as your question.

Look at the sales forum here.

    Or search "Seiko" via Google.

For $1000, I'd expect the blow to be included as well.

    Dear OP,

You might want to read this....

What are you looking for? Dress? Sport? Casual? Tool? Diver? What do you have in your collection currently? If you actually give us some info we can assist you better and point you in the right direction.

Did you just get the Speedmaster moonphase like you mentioned in this thread?

What watch did you just buy from @Barking mad and was it a watch from @efauser as you have noted as buying from them? Do you still prefer smaller watches as you have noted in your first post?

I suppose it was rather poor on my part to post this question with out with lacking specifics; it should have been more along the lines of "If you had a $1K budget b-day purchase for yourself right now at this moment what would you get?" and see what the responses were! (Wonder how many responses would include squirrel themes)...

Thank you for doing some historical research on me - in terms of the watches I have now - a '66 168.005 Constellation Pie Pan purchased from Barking Mad that I receive a lot of compliments on; a late 50's Seamster (34mm) Cal. 501 from efauser which also gets a number of compliments and a Speedmaster Moonphase 3575.20 purchased from a good member on another forum. All I wear for work/dress, and the moonphase seems to dress down pretty well too in my opinion; for weekend outings and what not. Not really an around the house item though.

Next year's b-day is already set aside for a birth year Speedy '77 which has already been promised as a gift to me.

I would also add that I was a bit disappointed I didn't act sooner on the very nice Dynamic offered by Alpha and MSN's 2479. But it looks like both found good homes with forum members.

For $1,000 I would add a decent 30mm caliber, perhaps a '40s military-style piece or for something a bit newer, a Chronostop can be had for around $1,000 or a C-case Seamaster with a coin-edge bezel (which really strikes me for some reason).

There are some decent pie pans on the bay from mid sixties right now but you have one already. So maybe a rolex date can go for around there. You gotta have a rolie, atleast one..
