Has anyone had experience of using a Peleton Bike? I am considering getting one and would appreciate any feedback. The feedbacks on YouTube seem to be generally positive, but I don’t know whether it’s for the channel’s marketing.

Many Thanks

We bought a Keiser M3i (would be considered the Cadillac or Mercedes of the spin bike world) and subscribe to the digital version of the Peloton app (it will run on iOS, Android, AppleTV, various other streaming boxes).

It gives you most of what you'd get by buying their Bike, but something else that Peloton's bike doesn't give you: Quality of construction and the ability to use a litany of other services (not just Peloton).

Plus the streaming service is under $15 per month where with their Bike it's $40+.

Some love their Peloton Bike, I just appreciate their service (the instructors) and wanted something that would stand the test of time (the actual physical spin bike, read some review that Peloton's Bike has; not quite up to the industry leaders).

So, the above said, to compare it to watches would probably be a good thing.

Peloton's Bike would be like the Invicta, ok but not really that good.

Keiser or Stages or Schwinn AC/Carbon Blue (their professional series) is like Omega or Rolex.

You get what you pay for. Buy something that will last.

I’ve never used or seen one, but I have heard that getting hacked can be an issue.

someone hacked my wife’s Peloton and keep bidding on watches from the bike.
I feel so helpless.

Bike and subscription are worth the money. Commit to at least 3 rides a week, you’ll slowly enjoy it.
It’s the MacBook of home fitness—Not the best hardware, but combined with the app, it’s leading the pack.

Obligatory watch shot, cause Omega forum…

Was just talking to a fellow sailor who bought one during Covid. He and his wife live in the city, love the thing. Personally, I told him that now that my suburban gym is open I like to be there when the morning yoga classes let out. It’s all the motivation I need. 😁

I got one for my wife who is on an outdoor cycling hiatus. She rides it multiple times a week.
I was not a fan at first but I started using it a couple of times a week and have enjoyed it.
I really like @ngo516 's analogy. Might now be the best in some areas but as an overall total package it seems to check all the boxes.

At the time, she was going to one of those spin gyms where all the do is spin - no other gym equipment.
I did the 0% financing on the bike, and with the monthly subscription for the service, it was still cheaper than her monthly gym membership

We bought one at the beginning of the year, it might not be the best thing in the world but I enjoy it. The social aspect keeps it interesting as we have a bunch of friends with them and have a large text message trash talking group.

After a year away from the gym, I figured I didn't want to go back and just picked up a spin bike at the local outlet (I think it's a brand that Peloton bought out) for cheap. It doesn't have proprietary software, but there are plenty of apps out there that you can tap into. I did my first ride today for an hour, and I'm super happy with it. Doubt I'll ever go back to they gym for spin class again!

I just received my Peleton today and had my first ride. It was good, but not easy as it seems 😀.

Who said it seemed easy? 😉
Actually no one said but the advert looked very attractive 😀. But it was a good work out nevertheless.

Yeah you can definitely kick your own ass if you want to. Or not. That's the beauty of it.
Since you are just getting started, I'd suggest doing the low impact rides to get a good feel for it.
You can make them easy, or difficult. Doesn't make you do some crazy high cadence, and the resistance range is pretty good.

My wife and I used to do a spin class three times a week at the local Wellness Center, but that abruptly came to a halt in mid-March 2020. Bought an Echelon bike last August for $1,600 which included a two year plan subscription. Bike seems just as solid as the bikes at the gym, and I use an iPad to access the online rides. There are tons of selections, and with many instructors. We do three rides per week and overall I'm happy with it. You can track calories, distance, output, etc for each rider. It's far more convenient than rolling out of bed for an 8:15am class and then you might not get the bike of your choice, this way it's an easy way to get on when it is convenient and do your workout. I miss the 'tribe' we used to have at the Wellness Center workouts which was good for motivation and the comraderie, but things change.

I work with several nurses, both male and female mind you. They can’t say enough good things about them and it’s like word of mouth seems to get many people in on the purchase. My wife didn’t get one but bought a few shares of the stock around the ipo. I was against her idea at the time as I thought it was a meme stock but holy cow that stock took off. I think people did very well on that company, not us so much, we, well she, didn’t get that much so no private islands or anything.

Agree - I do miss the gym people as well. It was a rather small gym that I went to, so everyone pretty much knew everyone.
I especially miss the instructors, they were very into everyone getting the most out of their classes. I went long enough that I can kind of mimic the workouts they did, and there are plenty of workouts on youtube as well for free. I'm not quite there where I can afford the classes like Peloton, but I have heard that they are pretty great. Future goals!

O - and don't forget the hand weights. When I went to class they used hand weights on the bike as well.
