    Hello again,

I'm able to buy a patina blue dialed Omega Genève for 250€. I'd initially not met the reserve auction price but the seller apparently is fine with the 250€ price tag. Would you guys pull the trigger?

I like the patina on it looks pretty cool and if it can continue getting that petina it Would look even better I think.

Would you say it's a good deal for a omega Genève cal. 613 ref. 136.070. and of course if it looks all original.

Thank you for your time !

If you like the dial, I would said €250 is a reasonable price, the case looks sharp and the brush finish looks good too.

250€ is fine, if you like the dial. I wouldn't call it patina but damage. Please calculate in the costs of a service if you intend to wear the watch on a daily basis.

Thank you to both of you.

What's the difference between damage and patina ?

I like the dial I only have gripe with the lume dots that's a little bit "too much" for me

Ended up refusing, if I was really into it I would not have hesitated. I'll save the money for a vintage I really dig. Thanks for the help.

I'd still love to learn the difference between patina and damages and how you differentiate both ?

Thx again to you helpful bunch

There is no hard and fast definitions for both patina and damage

however, some dealers are starting to falsely claim all damage as “good” patina on watches - to increase the price

However, some collectors like certain types of damage - ie cream dials Rolex Explorer 2 ref 16550 for example( these started off polar white), cream or pumpkin coloured lume plots, and some collect rolex spider dials ( others hate them - where the varnish has cracked)

at the end of the day, you have to decide what you like and what you can live with

People buy patina because they like the way it looks, people buy damage because someone talks them into thinking it looks good.

FWIW, I think you made the right call in passing on this one. Patina is such a personal thing, but the fact that you hesitated and decided to wait shows you weren’t moved by it enough.
