Hi all, I am a newbie and never have a chance to own a Patek Philippe. Can you give any information about this watch ? Many thanks
Yeah they are the most highly finished watches you will ever see. The date wheels are off a bit and the subdial printing is bad. Geneva waves look to low quality. It's worth 100 bucks in scrap gold if your lucky.
Not at all... That's why I'm wondering where the picture was taken... there's what? 6 more Pateks on the table in the background?
To save anyone further googling... the reference is a 5960P... seems to be from the mid 2000s One sold here: https://www.bachmann-scher.de/en/so...alendar-chrono-ref5960p-950-platinum-647.html Curious as to @habrisbane line of questioning... where did you see this? What's ringing alarm bells? At this level of spend, if you're not sure, you either need to be buying from Patek themselves, or a very trusted source.
5960P first version with Anthracite dial. Watch is real, don't listen to what anyone else says. I have handled 20 of these over the years and owned quite a few. You can also look between the lugs at 6 o clock and you will see a set diamond which is always found on modern PP Platinum cases. For $40,000 it must be missing papers because that is lower than it should be. 45-50k is where they trade now and a very poor investment. Used to trade at 25k OVER list and now they trade at 50k UNDER list. What makes it even more upsetting is that the model is discontinued and historically when a PP model gets discontinued it goes up in value but, this one just keeps falling. Pass. Even at 40k it isn't worth it.
Something altogether odd about the OPs line of questioning... and the table of Patel's in the background. Stolen watches? Backroom deals with no papers? Hmmm...
I wouldn't assume anything too nefarious is going on without proof, we've seen some pretty crazy shit (like briefcases full of Patek's/Ap's/etc). It's just how some people roll.
"Stolen watches?" I dunno - I think 'is it real?' Is quite a normal noob question, and would be grateful for @Varnado 's intervention. I've had Patek's without papers before and never worried - most normal people often throw boxes and papers away. Anyway, extracts of the archives are pretty easy to get from PP.
