I was fortunate to recently get my first Patek Philippe Calatrava model 2525/1 from 1955. The movement is a hand wound cal. 10-120. I can't find too much info about this model or the movement, but I can say I've enjoyed wearing it. At about 35mm, it is a good size for a dress watch in my opinion. If anyone has any info on the model or its movement, I would greatly appreciate it. Here is a quick picture of the watch. IMG_20160325_064712884.jpg

I'm sorry I don't open up my watches. I leave it to the experts.

Here is my Calatrava from 1969...this was my first vintage watch. I was instantly hooked on 60's vintage. (reference 3468) This one is somewhat unique in that it has the Cartier name on the dial and has a 18k Cartier buckle. I bought this from the estate of the original owner.

Only some vintage stainless Rolexes. Like a Daytona.

Numbers. That's the answer. Steel Pateks were much less common than their gold counterparts during the mid 20th century.

pretty much any vintage Sub or GMT sell for more than a 18k vintage gold calatravas of the same vintage.

For sure. And even a lot of Explorers, and certainly ExIIs. And SDs.

I think those are pretty much equivalent. I see Calatravas from $5K or so up to the lower-mid 20s, depending on size, condition, rarity, etc. Just like Explorers, Subs, GMTs...

Gold calatravas are priced around 8-12,000 usd now. Vintage gmt's and submariners go as much as 15-20k especially the tropical and gilt dials.
