    Hello everyone,

Hope everyone is doing well. I am trying to buy a watch from an older gentleman. He seems genuine but can’t tell me much about the watch as he suffers from dementia. The only thing I have thus far is a picture of the watch. I kindly ask all of you for your opinion. Is this real or a replica? He also have a omega that I posted about. I really don’t want to get ripped off.
Also, what is the year and reference number?
    Thank you all in advance.

In all seriousness, it’s not uncommon for someone to come in possession of a fake watch without their (the possessor’s) knowledge that it is fake. So don’t assume the worst regarding the person who wants to sell it. Just don’t buy it.

Its really not. I know you replied to my omega post. I just don’t want to get ripped off. He has bunch of old Bulovas, Rolexs, Hamiltons, Tissots, Longines, Pateks, seikos etc. He basically collected all these watches through out his lifetime as his daughter mentioned. Since he is sick, he is trying to sell them off. Out of all of them, I really liked the Omega and the Patek. I personally own some longies but nothing as expensive as Omegas nor Pateks. I found this group after lot of digging around to get some opinions and suggestions. Again this is not a joke. I could really use some help. Last thing I want is to pay thousands of dollars to wear fake watches.

Uh huh. Is he also selling a big old bridge? And that thing is reflective of his collection you should run the other direction. Maybe try to get some knowledge before venturing out to buy something that you know nothing about?

Just to be clear, the watch pictured above is not a Patek Philippe. It’s not just a fake, it’s a very bad watch. For $400 you could pay full MSRP for a brand new Seiko automatic and get a superb example of design and manufacturing precision. The pictured watch is neither. Not even worth $50.

A Modern Patek will be perfect. Crisp printing, perfection in the proportions, not a single thing will look unharmonious.

this is unbalanced, sloppy printing, and the movement does not look like a piece of art.

Mas you’ve been told very fake.

honestly even at a modern longines level this would be poor quality.

    good luck :)

The pictures were clear enough the first time. These change nothing regarding the legitimacy of the piece. It’s garbage.

With this piece of crap I would question everything this older gentleman is selling. If he got sucked in to buying this as a real PP what else did he get snookered on?

You'd be better off with a Timex.

Edit: that applies to anything this seller is pushing. Your money is better spent on a genuine Timex or Casio. I wouldn't buy *anything* from this seller, including a life raft if I was drowning.

That’s extreme as the Seamaster he’s been offered by the same chap is perfectly genuine.
