Hello all, I’ve stumbled across a gold Patek 2508 for sale. I’ve not had a Patek before so I’m a novice to this brand. Unfortunately, these are the best photos I could get out of the seller.

I’ve scoured the internet looking for similar dials, and I can’t seem to find any two dials that match, much less a consensus. This one looks original to me, but I’d appreciate any input from you experts.

The case looks decent but polished. I don’t have an angled shot to show if the crown is original or not.

No movement shots but naturally I’d confirm it before purchase.

Lastly, the hands definitely look pink to me, but the case looks YG? Seller says case is pink, but looks yellow to my eyes.

Any thoughts you can give me are much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I think that case could be pink, but maybe you can get some additional photos from different angles and in different lighting.

bad lighting does weird things to colour, I wouldn't be worried(yet) about case colour.

Thank you guys. Any thoughts on overall case condition, and dial originality...at least from what you can tell from the stellar photos?

And another random question...does the model number 2508 denote case metal type?

Looks correct. The 2508 does not refer to the metal, only the case type. They came in steel as well, though those are more uncommon. Yours is almost certainly pink gold, and if you can live with the polished case and the price is attractive, you should be happy with it.

Thanks guys for all of the input. Here are a few more photos seller sent me; he’s clearly not making any headway in his photography skills. Hopefully nothing negative jumps out at you?

    Hi,

Could you ask him a better pic of the logos on the back (external side)?

The case appears to be pink gold and polished, the movement looks ok, the 27SC is is one of Pateks best manual wind movement and is stamped twice with the Geneva seal which I believe designates it as chronometer grade. The inside of the case back looks fine except it appears its engraved "VACUUM" which is strange, I have not seen that before. The ones I have had said "PATENT" . Dial and hands look correct, the printing should be hard raised enamel so you definitely want to check that out. If it's been refinished the can depreciate its value by 50%.
The 2508's are great watches hope everything works out well for you and let us know.

Thank you for the info you provided. But if I may correct you, the Geneva seal is not about chronométrie. It contains several rules, mainly about the construction and the "bienfacture" of the movement. Most of the watches having the Geneva seal (including this PP) are chonometers, but these are different questions.

Those photos have all the hallmarks of this being a Craigslist sale ;)

Thank you for the correction. I wasn't 100% sure and that is why I said "I believe".

It looks original in every manner. The case is polished as in most watches that are 50 yrs old. I would go for this watch.
