I have a friend that is an OCD collector, and has a redundancy requirement in his collection--no shit, he has to have to two of every watch to feel satisfied. One of the watches in his collection that needs a twin is a PAM 61, so he is in the market for another 61 or a 177. He has been watching the market, and has noticed that watches sit on the market for months on end with no interest or price adjustment from the sellers...and then all of the sudden multiple sellers raised the prices of their watches. Is there an explanation for this? He is thoroughly perplexed, as am I.
I've got to ask, do you know what the logic is behind the need to have two of each? As one gets worn, he just likes knowing that one of them is still in perfect condition? I must admit, it would be fun to walk around wearing the same watch on both wrists
<Offtopic> Also, [Insert Fidel picture here as well] </Offtopic> OT: I suspect a move towards setting higher prices on the market after a global increase in retail-prices?
^^^ This is perfect. I love symmetry. My day is now complete. Oh BOY! I never realized that Castro used to wear two watches on the same wrist! What the heck?
He wants one as backup in case one is in the shop...which is idiotic in my book since he done this with 6 different watches (12 in total), yet only really wears two of them.
I've seen some expensive Panerais sell... Which shocked me even further given the prices they sold for...
You guys are trying to mix logic into the Panerai equation? Don't bother! My day would be complete if you set an avatar. You probably wouldn't like the one I assign.
Actually, it would probably be better than any avatar I'd pick Could I upload a picture of a question mark for my avatar?
That's nuts! I mean really, really nuts. As far as pricing...many people are not realistic. Unless you have something very unique, or very expensive, the number one reason your watch hasn't sold is the price (assuming you have decent listing). If I was in the market I'd start contacting sellers and saying there are several out there just like yours that haven't sold. I'm a serious buyer who can pay today what's your most competitive offer?
He knows the game and has been taking that approach...and people are raising their prices after months on the market with no interest. Truly bizarre.
North Korea doesn't have a free market. They can charge whatever they like. In this instance if a watch isn't selling at its current price raising the price isn't likely to attract a buyer.
if you're a commie dictator who sucks a whole nation's blood (the man is estimated to be worth billions) you will, too.
