Perhaps I may re-quote @Foo2rama here:
“it has the orange 24 hour hand but that’s it everything else is different.”

That's just my point, people see different things and perhaps only see what they want to see. I see a homage to the Rolex 1655, classic Rolex shape orange GMT hand, similar bezel design and a oyster style bracelet.

But my question was at what point does a watch become a homage to another watch? how many similarities are needed to constitute the watch being classed in this way?
I've recently taken delivery of a Helson Sharkmaster 300, but a thread on this might not meet with approval even though it has a blue dial, sapphire bezel, sapphire crystal, completely different bracelet, different font, different case design and a modern design micro adjust clasp, but saying that it has it's design based of the classic Seamaster 300.

Well pre Daytona’s have a case that looks suspiciously like Omegas... and the first Daytona is just a panda speedmaster with screw down pushers...

Honestly what is and isn’t a tribute is a little fuzzy at some levels, but in this case not even close. The piece must be almost indistinguishable or easily mistaken for another piece.

No worries and I'm not fussed either way, but what I would like to know if the CW isn't a homage watch whem it has 4 major Rolex designs contained in the watch, what does a homage watch need to have before it's classed as a homage? and where is the line drawn before a discussion can be allowed on OF.

Or just google Parnis

Any questions?

The C65 Trident GMT seems to draw inspiration from across the board, so it could be seen as a homage to the wider industry.

It’s bezel has more in common with a 1968 Zodiac Aerospace GMT Ref 752 925 than a Rolex Explorer II Ref: 1655 (which was introduced in 1971). Check out the fonts, coin edge, insert, 24 marker and text orientation. The most obvious difference being that the C65 bezel rotates, the ExpII doesn’t.

The C65 Trident GMT is missing the Rolex needle point on the GMT hand, making it similar but not identical.

Funny, this is the first time I’ve bothered to look so closely at these GMT hands. The Rolex 1655 is wonderfully aligned wrt the minute track, the later model just looks clumsy by comparison.

The C65 clasp is totally different to the Rolex item.

The C65 case looks nothing like a Rolex, I would say it has more in common with late 1960s Seamasters, like these two in my collection:-

But I accept that folks will see/believe whatever they want in the end. My first reaction (to the photos) was homage, then fascination (receiving it in the metal) and now satisfaction (glued to my wrist since it’s arrival back in September) and those were justifications enough for me to post a review on our most excellent OmegaForums.

I would say the C65 GMT’s colours and materials invoke thoughts of 1655 but nothing more. That’s a long way from a homage. When your thinking goes down that route anything with an oyster bracelet or a bezel is going to be homage to something. Watch design is pretty limited without becoming a taste free zone. Best to just enjoy. I love mine. It’s hardly been off the wrist since I got it at the start of the month.

That doesn't really help, when it's not a micro brand that offers such watches?

Don’t see it.

Unless you want to say every watch like that is a rip off of a junghans...

That’s a pretty good description of my feelings about the C65 Trident GMT.

I hope you manage to find yours in the new year.

Pic from yesterday while perusing the British Airways in-flight magazine.

In the mail today 😀 - what a beauty this GMT is! Goes well with Clementines aswell.....

I really like this watch but I just can't get past the name at 9. Throws the whole dial out of balance and sticks out.

There are plenty that agree with you but I think it works well with this watch (think the embossed logo at 12 helps).

I guess there is always something you would want a bit different on most watches out there, har to find the "perfect" watch....looking at the rest of it in detail, the case, dial, hands and that it sits and hugs the wrist perfectly....it´s a great package! I have some lovely Omega´s, Panerai Zenith and more....but this one, as a total package - beats them all!

Hi everyone, I fell in love with the C65 Trident GMT in the last few days - particularly the brown camel leather variant with the dark watchface. I have one concern though - I have a fairly slender wrist (17 cm = 6.7 in). Can I pull off wearing this watch in terms of strap length and watch diameter?

I've been wearing a Timex Weekender 38 mm thus far and I can definitely imagine having a watch that is just 3 mm wider. What are your thoughts?

Hard to beat that trident second hand. I love CW watches, they are my style. I like that they are not one of the "big players" but are putting real effort into the customer experience. Love it, and with a mid 40's lug to lug even my tiny wrist could enjoy it methinks! Congrats on a great looking watch.

They are putting effort into the customer experience? Have you read their own forums recently?

No I haven't, my comment was based on: a video by The Urban Gentry (where I'm pretty sure he said their customer service was great), combined with the nice wooden box longbow's watch came in, the letter from the founders to longbow, personal reply from one of the founders to longbow, the packaging longbow was showing, some folks saying they made quality pieces, etc. That's the extent of my knowledge on them.
