Dr.Sascha
·On offer is a lovely blue-dialed, all-steel, "panda" chronograph, Valjoux 7733, from Swiss watchmaker Desotos (f. 1952, Tramelan). Desotos was one of the many small Swiss brands imported by the US-based J.P. Pinguoin company. According to Microlisk, Desotos is a lesser-known offshoot of Gigandet & Chopard, so I would say it's likely this watch was manufactured in the same Tramelan facility (http://www.mikrolisk.de/show.php?site=280#sucheMarker).
The watch is all original (including crown and pushers), unpolished, running strong, and keeping good time. The excellent condition of the watch should be clear from the pix. The royal blue dial is pristine, and the lettering is crisp and flawless. The same is true of the silver-white subdials, steel indices, and small lume dots on the perimeter. The steel batons are also in very good condition and the lume is intact. Caseback engravings are sharp and clear. Inside is a workhorse Valjoux 7733 movement, very clean and looks to be recently serviced (though I want to emphasize that the service history is unknown on this one). It runs strong, winding and setting easily. The pushers are firm and all chrono functions reset smoothly back to zero. The all stainless steel case (screwback) is in very good condition, with signs of only gentle use over the years. Production date is early-to-mid 1970s, with an overall design aesthetic similar to Le Jours and Wakmanns from that period.
This is a "wear with anything chronograph" as the elegant indices and graceful lugs mean it can be dressed up with a plain leather band or made more sporty with a NATO or rally strap.
A few details worth noting. The first is the oversized, 38mm case with the unusual "twisted-lyre," lugs. The same case is occasionally found in Le Jours from this period (example here: https://ebay.us/IsXDl2). This jumbo case, along with the glossy blue dial and white subregisters, give the piece a truly striking wrist presence. Another interesting element is the syringe-shaped subdial hands, which are of a type I've never encountered before and are quite attractive. All in all, a very nice vintage chronograph with a lot of appealing features, and one that will make a worthwhile addition to any collection, I should think.
Width: 37mm w/o crown.
Length: 45mm lug-to-lug
Lug width: 20mm.
Comes on a blue leather band that suits it nicely. Other options available on request.
£750 ONO. Free shipping in the UK via Special Delivery (£10), buyer to cover additional costs beyond this if it needs to be posted abroad (via your preferred carrier).
I stand by the accuracy of my descriptions, and will accept a return if the piece received differs significantly from what is being advertised (it won't!).
This will be my third sale on OF (endorsement from the first two: https://omegaforums.net/threads/dr-sascha.118735/, https://omegaforums.net/threads/dr-sascha.118487/).
I have also bought several watches from members and have sold to a member on Chrono 24, all smooth transactions.
Questions/comments/feedback welcome, and thanks for looking!
