On the same subject.. I heard somewhere that when Omega really started producing the speedy it was around 500/day..馃摉

Yes, because processes work in parallel until final assembly.

Makes sense. Assuming they work 200 days per year, they have on average 500*200 = 100,000 Speedmasters in all states of assembly and (in)completion sitting around. If they can sell them for $3000 a piece, that's $300 million. It boggles the mind!

I don鈥檛, but to spitball some back-in:

according to Morgan Stanley, in 2020 Omega produced ~500,000 watches, and has several hundred models for sale; so, I suspect Speedys represent CONSIDERABLY less than the 100k units/yr mentioned in a post above.

Prior years production has been closer to 800k watches, but with hundreds of models sold and collectors having myopic assumptions about brand sales, I鈥檇 take a bald guess that - in any year - Speedys represent fewer than 10% of Omega鈥檚 total watch production.
