So I just logged in to the sniping site to pull a snipe from a watch and found this

    Untitled.jpg
Howzat for an Ashley? Normally, the site is pretty good about asking if you really mean to make that bid if you put in a number a few orders of magnitude more than the current price, but not this time. Pretty dangerous.....

I hope you have changed it Lou - just in case the seller's mate, Mr Shill, reads this forum.

Wouldn't it be more magnanimous to pay off the national debt than buy a vintage Cricket? :p

Let's see...$16 trillion times 4% interest per year = $640 billion per year

$640 billion divided by 365 = approx. $1.8 billion per day.

Lou's bid is about 10 days worth ($181 billion / $1.8 billion) of the interest on the national debt. And I'm being very generous on the interest rate.

How's that for a "back of the napkin" calculation?

    Very professional

But the good news is that it looks like Lou can afford both the JLC Polaris we discussed recently and the sketchy Plaisted Speedmaster :whistling:
