Stripped of that status? How, exactly, do you imagine that such a thing might occur? Where would all of the goods manufactured there be produced?

There where they used to be manufactured before.

There where they used to be manufactured before.

Good luck with that! It would take decades, even if those in power (e.g. the corporations that catalyzed the offshoring of jobs to begin with) wanted to return manufacturing to the U.S.

I don't disagree that it would be more healthy if such a change were to occur, but it isn't remotely realistic in the near term.

The US military budget was 3.4% of GDP in 2019, near historic lows, its been falling for decades.

This is wildly misleading, as my now deleted post revealed. And one of many other, related points: the suggestion that Russia is an "evil regime" is a transparent regurgitation of Western propaganda.

Yeah, everybody is making propaganda. The West, the North, the East, the South, and everybody mixes some conspiracy into this presumed foggy cloud on the other side of the sandpit. Not an excuse to not thinking by ourselves and acting accordingly.

Like the East doesn’t have propaganda?

Guys, the scope of this thread is to discuss tangible, day to day actions we can take NOW to minimize/reduce our impact on natural resources, to protect our environment, etc.

Sure, voting is a key action, but it has been covered already and in any case, we do not need to transform this thread in a discussion on military budget, east / west propaganda, etc. etc. 😒

I have been VERY grateful to the moderators like Ask @dsio, for cleaning up this thread every so often and for keeping it alive!!! 👍

Let us PLEASE recenter the debates.

Has any of you made an attempt to influence the decision(s) of their company to be more environmentally friendly?
Is any of you working for a B-Corp!? I would be super interested in learning about what has worked or not worked in your corporate world…

...so what are you concretely doing, what changes have you implemented in your life to hopefully revert the tide (no pun intended)?

Looking for practical solutions on reducing carbon footprint, on eco-friendly investment ideas, reducing quantity consumed in favor of quality, etc...
Not a damn thing.
