Flying in to Narita and need to get to the Hyatt in Tokyo with my wife and daughter. The train looks fine but my wife wants a car service. Advice/thoughts on the latter and vs. a taxi? Thanks all.
We visited Tokyo in early 2016, and took the airport-hotels shuttle. It cost about half vs taxi. It's a bit over an hour ride if memory serves me right.
Depends on how deep your pockets are. Taxis are very very expensive in Japan. I would estimate about USD200-USD250 for a taxi from Narita to downtown. There will also be bus shuttle service from the airport which stops at major hotels in Tokyo, I would assume that a hotel like the Hyatt would be one of the stops but you should check. This is the cheaper option but slightly less convenient.
The countryside around Narita is actually kind of pretty. The train is also super easy and tends to be quicker depending on the time of day.
Train for me. Wife and I travelled abit around and we took the train for most. Taxi cabs tend to be more expensive I feel.

Thanks all. As is often the case, my wife decided for me so it will be a car service arranged by the Hyatt. Too many other things to argue about so I am letting this one go.
Could you imagine if they tried this in NYC on the A Train? The pushers would be on the tracks and in pieces within seconds. New York commuters have high tolerances for shenanigans, but this wouldn't stand for a New York Minute.
As a globalist with their program I stay at hyatts a lot. My favorites in tokyo go: 1. Andaz (the breakfast is awesome - managed a suite upgrade once and it was absolutely fantastic) 2. Park Hyatt (can't beat the views and the spa, but they need to update that hotel asap) 3. Grand Hyatt (if you can get a suite upgrade here they're like 1000 sqft for their standard suite - also the grand club is excellent). 4. Regency (nice hotel but little dated and the club level needs a little attention).
