Unless you are in an unpressurized cabin, sorta useless. However many watch complications are pretty useless, so this is not too surprising.

At least with this, unlike the depth gauge, it won't get filled with debris!

Why does this one get to claim "first"? How is the altimeter different from that of the Favre Leuba Bivouac from the 1960's?

Or they could have claimed "first mechanical altimeter complication with a grey fabric band"

Or "First mechanical altimeter complication with two big crowns"

On the level of the (resurrected) Ball watch that has a built in thermometer that only functions properly off the wrist. I suppose it's good for knowing your approximate body temp while wearing it?
