I’ve got a fellow cop friend who is selling a very worn Oris Aquis. I’m unfamiliar with Oris or this model. From what I can find, pristine examples are north of $1000. Priced at $500. Worth any consideration? (Pics are his and aren’t great).

Oris in general make pretty simple and unremarkably designed watches with solid ETA movements and quality cases / bracelets. I actually consider them a bit like Omega in the 1990s where you were just buying a quality build around an ETA movement. Not a bad thing at all and especially for a young persons first watch of a beater watch they’re not a bad choice.

That looks very beat up...I would look for one in better condition.

I have an Oris Aquis, but in perfect condition. Not sure what the upside would be with this one. Watches in general are easy to buy, but difficult to sell. This one will likely be extra difficult to sell.

I like Oris as a brand because they are one of the few known names that remain independent from the big watch groups, or at least they were the last time I checked. They have some cool watches in a variety of price ranges.

That one looks a bit rough.
