“Tariffs need to be used like a scalpel, not a hammer,” Ms. Whitmer said in Washington, at an event space near the White House. “Unfortunately, it’s unclear how this is going to strategically benefit the American economy or the American consumer. And I think that’s the big problem.”

I’d hardly call that “praising”.
It was a clear misrepresentation of her stance and comments. Unfortunately this is the way things are now…

I didn't notice that happening a couple of weeks ago in Denmark with long layovers at Heathrow. People were friendly. Of course we weren't wearing anything as obvious as red hats. Maybe we were passing for Canadian or British.
Good to hear. Especially good to know you eventually made it out of Heathrow! 😅

I would love to see the cell phone logs of the people present in these meetings immediately after they ended. I suspect you would see a lot of logins to online financial accounts and calls to stockbrokers.

Trump making public announcements shortly thereafter gives them some cover from insider trading prosecution. By then, the trades have been locked in.

The Golden Rule really is that "He who has the gold makes the rules".

They're not all that concerned with hiding it.

"In a video posted to X on Wednesday, 9 April, the president introduced NASCAR drivers to the founder and chairman of Charles Schwab Corporation, a multinational financial services company.

“It’s not just a company, it’s actually an individual,” Trump told the racing drivers.

The president added that Schwab “made two and a half billion today” from the stock market."

The Trump administration remove 381 books from the Naval Academy.
Who needs books when you're being taught in a school with lead paint and lead water pipes?

"Milwaukee health officials investigating widespread lead contamination at Milwaukee Public Schools will not receive on-site help from a team of federal experts, in the wake of mass layoffs of federal health workers.

The city's request for help, submitted to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention last month, was denied on April 3 "due to the complete loss" of the CDC's lead poisoning prevention branch, according to an email from a CDC official obtained by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel."

But both sides are the same::facepalm1::

What am I missing? Trump fired CDC and his health secretary denied the funds, according to the article. How is Representative of both sides the same?

Further proof there is no plan;

Come Christmas it will need to be Toys.
80% of toys made in China with 145% tariffs

Hard to throw your toys out of the sandbox without any toys 🧸

1999?

Hello. 1970 England calling……

….oh, and no tariffs.

And in comparison was much better off-road too. Cornering on the other hand took nerves of steel

Want to avoid your own Tarrifs ? You need Money first . Then China ships everything desired to Putin. For a small fee ... Putin passes that on , for small fee , to the Russian Mafia. The Russian Mafia , for a small fee , ships to the USA , which ( insert : "Surprise !" Here ...) "Forgot" to put Tariffs on Russia ( because all the longtime " Friends and Allies " of the USA pay enough Money to the USA because of the Tariffs ; no need to upset Russia...) . And then there is alternate new Ally North Korea, to do the same. Approvals for new Golf Courses pending ... Sure, just Coincidences.

That's a new one for me - never heard of that.
I think it pre-dates this, but essentially this is what was going on:

Well, we are on a site that could be argued is all about expensive trinkets, so I guess I was covered even though I didn’t have any tungsten cubes. 😀

Sorry, another story. I tell this generally when I try to compare today's economy to when I was younger.

When I was going to college in the 80's (the second time after dropping out years earlier), I needed a job. I was able to go to a factory that made skid steer front end loaders (like a bobcat.) The hiring guy asked me if I wanted 1st shift, 2nd shift or third shift. He then asked if I wanted full time or part time. Last question was did I want assembly, painting or welding. I said I was interested in welding but had no experience. He said no problem, they'd train me. I took full time, second shift welding.

That job paid me enough for tuition and room and board. You can't do that today. I know the world is radically different now, but I can understand why people miss those good factory jobs.

19 gm per cm^3. Presumably that’s the appeal. Twice as dense as most common non-precious metals, so it would make a good conversation piece/paper weight. Virtually anything else in that range of density is radioactive, extremely expensive, or both.
