    Hello!

I know that you have had tons and tons of these questions already, but i hope you can help a newcomer such as myself once again!

I am looking to buy a vintage Constellation, and i have now find this cal. 561, year 1962, serial 2039XXXX and ref. 14902 - 62 SC.

The price is quite good, but as i can read on this board, there are quite a lot of redone Constellations. I would therefore like to know, if you can say anything about this watch, based on the photos provided?

I know that the photos aren't very good, and the seller will give me more photos in the morning, but if you already could tell from these that something is wrong, i might as well tell him not :)

    Thanks in advance!

Can you tell me if my camera is a real Canon G series or is there something wrong with it?

Point taken! I apologize, and will post photos tomorrow!

In the meantime, what would be a fair price for a Constellation like this?

Am I right in saying that the watch is in Denmark?

Yes, that is correct. Do you know the specific watch and/or seller? :) @ConElPueblo

Actually, no need for that - I can tell from the serial that it is ;)

I owned that watch for some time and can vouch for the originality. Here are some pictures - it really is a very striking dial, and the case is quite good as well. The only bad parts are that the hands and the crown are replacements. I didn't mind too much when I owned it :)

The dial looks fantastic when the light hits it:

I only sold it as I had three Constellations at that time, all yellow gold capped. Down to one now!

Wow, what are the odds! :-D is it okay for me to message you, just so I can absolutely sure that we are talking about the same watch? :)

That is some really nice pictures! I don't mind the crown not being correct for the ref, as I have read that constellations crowns are hard to get by. But what about the hands? Are they correct for the ref?

    Thanks a lot!

Oh, I'm positive it's the same watch... And the odds of me knowing about an Omega for sale in Denmark are, well, reasonable ;)
I sold the watch to Thomas earlier this year and am a bit sad to see it up for sale again - it looked really good on him!

The hands are correct, but for a watch with luminous indices - normally a Constellation with onyx markers would have black inlay in the hands to match, this one hasn't. That said, I don't think it detract too much from the watch. You can get reproduced crowns for Constellations, but they will be of a darker tone of yellow - it's pretty much only stands out on close-up photos.

Feel free to contact me if you like, even though I guess most of the information is in this thread :)

A watchmaker could replace the lume with black colored non-luminous material if it bothers anyone.

Thanks a lot, Troels! His name is indeed Thomas, so there is no doubt the its the watch! :)
It looks SO good in your pictures! I am definitely convinced by the watch now, so i will go meet up with him tomorrow. Can´t wait!
He kept the strap on that you sold him, do you remember if its original croco?

As long as they are right for the ref., it does not bother me that they have lume, but its very good to know, as @ulackfocus says, that its possible to have it altered, if i one day should want that :)

In regards to the reproduced crowns, where could i one of those?
And when it comes to buckles, would a newly produced gold plated one like this be fitting? I know its not exactly vintage, but it seems that original vintage plated buckle does not exactly grow on trees!

That buckle isn't period correct for the watch, so I would not be keen to throw that amount of money at it.

I thought it wasn't, but i really dislikes no-brand buckles, so i guess it would be a step up :)

    That would be just perfect!
I love how its the old Omega logo, as you are right that the new one with the new logo does not really seems fitting for a vintage Constellation.
