Yes Thanks! I had to pull the trigger quick since it was getting late and I had to get up early ;).
I am excited and thankful that I had Hoipolloi's backing. Without this forum I would have purchased a "restored" watch.
I have caught the bug and am ready to start my collection Slowly...quality over bargain quantity!

Also I have just started reviewing Desmond's forum on Constellations.
is there a way to tell from the ebay ad the year and model of this watch I purchased?

The model is 168.005. Here is a link to the Omega Vintage Database for your watch, which was introduced in 1962. The movement serial number dates your particular example to 1966. You have got a great start to a vintage Omega collection ;)

P.S. Note that in the database you have to insert an additional zero - 168.0005 - to get a hit. Desmond's Constellation site is brilliant, read it all and you are well on the road to being a true collector!

My first vintage was a stainless 168.005 with a 564 - twenty odd watches later I still love it. Yours has sharper lugs than mine - looks like a good buy.... you might want to think about a black gator (cheaper non omega) strap which will dress it down a bit from the lizard I think its on now.

Says it comes with a "genuine Gator" band....? We'll see. bands are probably another facet of watch collecting that I have a lot to learn about:)

564 and 561 both are very good chronometer movements from Omega,The 564 has the quick set function. You can pull the crown out to adjust the time then from that position, pull it one more notch then the date will advance one day.
Don't do that from 9 pm to midnight.

I see. That is a nice feature to have when it's the 31st and the watch says the 1st!
is it true you shouldn't "wind" the hands back in time?

also curious why you chose 2 over 1?
    and thanks again!

Number one has a newer replacement crown. It has lumed dial and the price is wayyyy too high. Number two is all original with original crown with black onyx inserts powered by a 564. Price is very reasonable. Hope you will enjoy it.

:) :) I'm on hols with very little bandwidth. Sorry - looked like lizard, but ill admit I was struggling to get up a big picture. If it does turn out to be gator, consider a lizard strap which will dress it up a bit.
