I am thinking of pulling the pin on a 2013 speedmaster 3570.50. Like to hear your prognosis for the future of this model. I know that they are the same watch (with some small changes to the bracelet) as first issued in 1996 and finishing in 2014. Do you think it's better to get something closer to circa1996 than circa 2014, or in between or doesn't it really matter.

    Condition. Condition. Condition - always.

    Opinions please. Thanks.

most of the discussions regarding fall around either

    pre-moon or other,

display back vs standard back, and

    tritium vs modern

you're looking at about 1997 for the tritium cut off as well as the introduction of the 1861 movement.

it's basically whatever floats your boat.

I'd try to get a late 90's tritium model with the 1498/1499 bracelet myself. That bracelet is better, that bracelet is Swiss made, tapers more, and will be more comfortable.

And the tritium with patina gives the watch more dimension. Just my .02

I bought a 2011 3570.50 because I figured newer is better. It seems to me that the 3570.50 is not a collectible reference, so I wanted one with less wear and tear. I also plan to buy a pre-moon cal 321, but in that case the collectability issues are more relevant.

I also bought a newer, 2014, because I also wanted newer. I wanted to be the one who put the scratches on it.

If you're not looking for any specific bracelet, any Speedy Pro will do. If you want patina, 1997 or older. Otherwise, condition is king.

I'm wearing a 3592.50 (display back, gilt movement) right now as my daily beater. I think patina plus gilt movement is awesome. I took it from NEAR MINT to EXCELLENT in about a month.

Give your 3570.50 fifty years to age. After all, how long did it take for a 105.003 to become collectible. It won't ever be as sought after as the older references but, it will take it's place in history.
