Opinions on this vintage, worth bidding?

One problem jumps out at me right away. The 16 is not properly centred in the date window while the hands are nowhere near beginning the date change. That, plus the movement is basically a Tissot movement, and one I have never cared much for. I see a repair number in the case back from 2020. The crystal appears to have damage between the 7 and the 8. Personally, I wouldn’t give it a second look at any price.

Thanks for the quick analysis Canuck! I'm not very familiar with movements, do you have any suggestion on what I should be looking for as a robust and reliable movement for a 60-70s vintage Omega?

Perhaps you might be best off waiting for other opinions on the Omega. The calendar situation I referred to should be obvious to anyone seeing your images. What I had to say about the mechanism (movement) is my opinion only. Others may speak more positively about the watch. One additional comment I might make on the Omega is that, whether this particular calibre of movement is behind an Omega dial or a Tissot dial, parts are no longer available. Not an encouraging sign when considering buying it.

That watch is of the period when the quartz crisis was starting to bite and so costs/quality was starting to be cut.
If you’re looking for a nice vintage Omega, I’d recommend looking at the 56x movements from the 60’s (or 55x without date).

Welcome, you're at the correct forum for that information.....use the search feature at the top.

Search "Constellation" or "Seamaster" and you'll soon be informed.

Then questions can be asked for any followup

The Calibre 751 is especially well engineered. I researched it because my 1967 Constellation day/date has the 751. Apparently, it was designed to last 265 years.

Fifty years after it was produced. By my reckoning, you got 215 years of use, left. Keep us posted! 😁

Thanks, yes being newbie I had no clue about this movement being that difficult to be serviced or its parts to be found given the repair date that's on the case. I'll be happy to learn as much as I can before making the move.

That's some precise and valuable information, I'll look into them for sure.

Thanks for the links, yes the Constellation and Seamaster's reputation precedes them but being that new to this world I was looking for something that might be more "entry level" pass me the term.

Touchè! I guess it's because I approached this learning process starting from the basics and moving on to more advanced concepts, but I get your point, having a broader and deep view of the whole panorama helps figuring out where to aim and this was the main goal of this call for help 👍
