Opinions on this vintage Seamaster

Still on my quest to buy my first watch, and I think I’ve narrowed down my preference to a couple different references. I’ve come across this Seamaster, reference 166.003 and curious what you all might think. I can’t tell for sure but I’m guessing it could be a redial, which doesn’t quite bug me if so. I noticed the dots on the indices and wondering if that’s normal.

Asking price is about $750.

A side note, another model I’ve been considering is a 166.002, so if anyone has an opinion on either of these I’d love to hear it!

Looks legit at first glance. The crown should probably be gold in color, perhaps the plating has worn off?

The rotor is rubbing against the case back, or it has done that at some point. Since that yellow case gasket is the one that come with the watch originally, I would assume that the watch needs a full service and replacement parts such as a new rotor pinion to fix the rubbing issue.

I haven't been following prices for the last 6 months, but I wouldn't pay $750 for this watch based on the condition of the movement.

Th dial is fine but the case looks like it’s lost some gold plate on the lugs
