I know the pic is bad, but it is all I have to go on for now. 14k solid gold case. 14k marks on case back and lugs. Engraved back. Unknown year or movement.

Looks nice. I have a similar one in 18K but can't tell you about age/movement etc as I can't access my database at the moment.

Hands, dial, script and crown look genuine to the model though.

    Will have a look tomorrow.

If the watch is as nice as it appears, would a price if under $1000 be a good value?

According to the owner the watch should date to 63 or 64

Looks a little like a GX6546? If it is it would be from the mid 1950's and would have a call 500 automatic movement.

Is it one of the earliest auto watches Omega made?

If I remember correctly, the first Omega automatics were released in 1943. The watch in the OP looks to be early to mid-1950s, as Joe says.

Omega launched their first autos in 1943. This would predate your watch by at least a decade.

Well, I hope the watch is worth $850, because it is mine now. Although I will not have the watch for a week or two. Owner is coming down to a city just an hour away from me. I was planning an 11 hour round trip on the bike. (not a bad thing!). Another shot in the dark here.

I am looking into sending my 354 seamaster, 30t2, 342 movement, and then this watch all in for service. My 3523.30 will be serviced local thru Littman's in Jacksonville. I feel that I need to get all my toys right before moving on......well unless another watch catches my eye!

After reading up on the GX6546 case, I kind of hope that is what this watch is.

If the case is 14K solid gold then the watch will be worth that, if not more (depending on dial, movement, etc)

All answers to my questions say it has the marks.

How much does a 50 year old engraving effect value?
