Am I missing something? It looks like a standard dome dial 168.005.
Has some patina to the dial, dome dials are less sought after than pie pans and the bracelet is wrong so not a buy for me at that price.
168.005 (date) and 167.005 (no date) are by no means rare references, they are pretty widely available with pie pan or domed dials as Davidt said. To answer your question directly: it's not a "special" model or rare. I also feel like I am missing something ... if you search 168.005 you don't find any other examples that look just like this one?
I have a 14900 which is the predecessor ref to the 167.005. Pricing really comes down to condition in the general order of dial, case and movement. A clean, original dial without lume seems to be the most sought after. Pie pan will cost more than a domed dial. A case that is not overly polished is also a big factor. Be sure the lugs still retain their shape, you can see the bevels and the case and lugs have not been rounded and lost their original shape and design. Stainless steel will generally be a premium over gold cap. Other factors that can increase the price will be whether it comes with an original bracelet (1037) and end links (70). If it's recently serviced. And if it has the correct crown and signed crystal. No date may even be a small premium over date, all other things being equal (they produced less and some like the more symmetrical look).
Honestly, if you only just learned this ref comes with both a pie pan and domed dial I'd say you're probably too early in your journey to make a prudent, informed purchase. There are many beautiful Constellations on this site. You should view and learn as much as you can before worrying too much about price - it can be quite a range.
Hi, I just bought a similar 168.005 but it didnt come with an original bracelet. I have been trying to find some reference or info on the OG bracelets. Can you tell me where I can find some reference for the 1037/70 bracelet and links being original to this model?
As far as I know braclets were bought at the POS so there is no 'correct' bracelet for the 168.005
Just get yourself a nice condition one (length differ due to removeable links!) either which rerference of the two ones
My two cents!
7-row Beads of Rice (BoR) references are 1503, 1037, 1068, 8270, these are basically identical, just produced in different eras. The end links are numbered 70 or 570. Note that there are unnumbered bracelets that are still correct. Some have a circled 12 in the clasp which has nothing to do with the reference number.
Correct and links are of course important or else it won't fit well to the case. I'd say bracelet + end links will put you back $200-$250 usd
