What's your opinion of the Broad Arrow?
I saw one for sale, and I am very intrigued.
It's not a Professional, it's an automatic but not a reduced. It seems to be its own category.
    I'm interested in all opinions.

The Speedmaster Broad Arrow is its own category (separate from the one above with 1861 movement as that's a '57 re-edition, not a "Broad Arrow" in the family sense). The movement is the 3303 F.Piguet based chronograph.

Its a relatively big category with a lot of members ranging from manual winds to GMTs to many others.

I've owned one for years and it has been reliable and super accurate. There were issues with the first production run that were soon fixed.
I wouldn't hesitate if the price is right.

Despite the negative comments this movement has received in the past (mainly from one guy on WUS who seems to have an agenda with regards to this movement) I have found it to be a good movement generally. As noted the early versions had some parts that required upgrading, and I often replace those parts in the watches that I service. Having said that, I've only ever had one watch on my bench where one of those parts actually failed, so the upgrades are mostly just preventative in my experience.

If you decide to buy this watch, and when it comes time for service, make sure whoever you select to service it has experience with this specific movement family, including access to the updated parts. The movement can be a bit tricky if you have not done them before.

    Cheers, Al

Al, If my watch is sent in for service would I be charged for the upgraded parts if they haven't already been changed?

Speedmaster Broad Arrow is not a clock that is seen so often. Many believe it is the most beautiful Speedmaster, and certainly a bargain with the beautiful cal. 3303. So my recommendation would be, buy it. The hands and hour indicators are amazing, sometimes black and sometimes blue.
Have here attached a father and daughter picture.

Sent in where? To Omega, or to an independent servicer? Omega might include these parts (you would have to ask them) but their prices are already high enough to cover them I'm sure...

I can only speak for me personally - yes I charge for the upgraded parts.

I agree. I think it is a fantastic looking watch. I don't like where the date is, but that's just me.

I bought mine new in 2003 and love it - it was the first "proper" watch I owned. They look great on a leather strap too - I had a blue Toshi strap on it for a while, which suited it quite well, but reverted back to the steel bracelet and then recently decided to go back to a deployant buckle leather strap. I ordered one from Peter Watchacc on WUS, and it's lovely - better quality than OEM and a lot less pricey.

Here's the BA with Peter's strap on...

I've always loved the way the light catches the blue hands and markers.

In real life, the location of the date is not so bad, I had the same thought when I saw a picture of the clock the first time. Now I can not recommend a different location, and I now see it as a charm.

I prefer at the moment leather strap instead of steel, and I love the buckle.

Ithink you may be confusing this watch with the moonphase 3575 30 which has white markers.

Mine was my first expensive watch. I also love the blue markers in the light. Its always kept excellent time both before and after a recent Archer service and set of upgrades. Every time I wear it to a watch fair dealers try to buy it.
