Since it is somewhat related to Omega... What do you think of the SPECTRE movie?

Personally I think it is one of the worst Bond movies ever. Daniel Craig is awesome and Casino Royale was a brilliant Bond movie, Quantum of Solace was okay and Skyfall was awesome, almost as good as CR. SPECTRE however has an uninspiring story and an immense amount of plot holes that ruin it for me. For example, why try to kill Bond on the train, when the bad guy clearly wanted him to come to the desert and kill him there in is little torture machine? Makes no sense to me. One government guy making a deal with SPECTRE on the intelligence collaboration. No other people involved? Is there other people in the entire MI6 than Q, M, Moneypenny and Bond? Apparently Q runs everything from data security, HR, Intel gathering, gadget man.

I was very dissapointed. None of the Casino Royale magic and Skyfall Craig swagger

    What do you think?

Sadly, plus 1 on this - I am a massive fan of Bond in the Craig era, but it felt like they were trying to throw back to the Moore/Brosnan style - none of the edginess or realism of the previous Craig movies - pretty disappointing - and to bring it back to OF - the watch tie in was absurd - over marketing at its best ..... Shame

I'm no big fan of Daniel Craig but he does a believable job with physicality. Seems like a good athlete.

Pierce Brosnan was the most unbelievable Bond.

*edit / I still think the best Bond fight scene was Connery vs. Shaw. Two good real life athletes getting after it !! Connery had Shaw locked in a very realistic standing guillotine choke. I bet that hurt...Sean was cranking the jebus out of Robert's neck and jaw - perfect technique.

The best part of seeing the movie was me wearing the watch. Very comfortable on the wrist. Beautiful glow in the dark. The movie itself feels like a try to do it better with any means. I have to see it again to decide wether it is a good one or not.

In the months leading up to Spectre's release I made a point of watching all 24 Bond films made before Spectre (though Spectre is advertised as the 24th Bond film, it is actually the 25th; there is a non-Eon/Broccoli remake of Thunderball titled "Never Say Never Again", starring Sean Connery as Bond). Though I had seen all these films at least once before over the past 40+ years, I was surprised (in an amused way) by the silliness of most of the plot-lines when I watched the films recently. My overall impression was: don't watch a Bond film if you absolutely must have an engaging, twisting, semi-plausible plot. So story-wise, Spectre lived up to my low expectations of a plot that would keep me anxiously engaged from beginning to end. And the end was a long time coming, given the 2-1/2 hour running time for Spectre.

Having said all that, I was thoroughly captivated by the brilliance of the actual film-making. The opening sequence set in Mexico City was over-the-top brilliant and now ranks as my favourite Bond opening sequence. And the Rome car chase totally raised the bar for a real-live (no digital fakery) car chase (which reportedly cost the lives of four Aston Martin DB-10 prototypes). Overall, it is the spectacle of Spectre that will draw me back to the theater to pay real $$ to watch it (with great enthusiasm!) again.

I'll be honest, I loved it. I'm pretty good at suspending disbelief, and the action sequences were breathtaking. It's definitely a popcorn at the theater movie IMO.

He needs a new Taylor... All the suits are so tight that he looks like a stuffed sausage

I found the movie fun but flat. Of the Craig series I still see Casino Royale as 1 and skyfall as 2 this one a 3 and quantum last.

There are some cool tie ins with the Bond legacy though.

But the suits are just fitted wrong, it's ridiculous.

@Nobel Prize I think your ranking of the Craig editions is spot-on.

It's not a fashionable opinion, but I liked QOS a lot - I put it above Skyfall and Spectre - CR is head and shoulders above all of them though.

Thinking about it none of them beat the opening scene and originality of CR, and the poker game alone has more suspense than all of spectre. The tone is just flat.

I disagree. I loved it. I thought it was Craig's best performance. Beautifully shot with many nods to past films. I enjoyed it on the first viewing and even more on the second. I thought it tied the four Craig films together neatly, which stand as a series within the series.

There are flaws, sure. But, on the whole I thought it a solid 007 thriller.

I'd switch Skyfall and Casino, but otherwise agree with the pecking order. But even then, Quantum is 4th of 4 great Bond films. (Where would the 4 DC films rank in the overall JB order? All within the top 10, I'm sure.)

As to the tailoring, are they still trying hard to position DC as a more muscular, brutal Bond? I personally think he suits the look, because it does make him look like a machine, Britain's "blunt instrument", whilst still looking smart. Even if it's not how I'd wear a suit myself!

These Tom Ford clothes are all over the place...trying to be all things for all people and all tastes.

We all know when u try 2 please every1 you please no1.

Peak lapels on a 2 button, single vent? Ewww.

Leather gloves with no outer coat? Ewww.

Double monks with non cuffed suit pants? Ewwww.

A tie pin? really?? They make James Bond look like the cast of Goodfellas. It's a great look for Italian gangsters from Brooklyn but not James Bond. No way.

Not to mention that all his suits are at least 2 to 4 chest sizes too small. So if DC is a 46R, they're stuffing him into 42R like sausage casings. Ewwww.

    One of the reasons

I understand the importance of product placement and cross marketing but why do they have an American from Texas dressing James Bond??

This James Bond is jumping in and out of 7 figure Aston Martin's in suits which can be bought off the rack Macy's? Yeah, OK.

I know he didn't use Saville Row bespoke but I liked the cut of Piece Brosnan's jib when he was rocking Brioni. In fact, I went out and purchased a few Brioni suits and a tux just because of Goldeneye. True story...

Waltz is great, but not the best actor for the roll of Blofeld. The story around this Blofeld was weak and they should have stuck to queues from the original SPECTRE films. For example, forget the Oberhauser story. The producers should kept the identity of the actor portraying Blofeld cosmic top secret until at least Bond 25. Keep his silhouette as they did during the meeting in Rome but also have him holding the cat; the cat is the representation of Blofeld and SPECTRE. Forget the whispering, etc.

There was no "price of failure" for SPECTRE agents that mess up. That is a requirement for a SPECTRE plot. Speaking of plots, I am still foggy on exactly what the evil plot was. It was not world domination, holding the world for ransom, or trying to inaugurate WW3. Those are the primary reasons for this organization operations. This Blofeld was not sinister enough to match or exceed the previous Blofeld's.

Bautista was brilliant as a villain. He rivaled Oddjob in terms of size, indestructability, and limited dialogue. I hope he returns in a future Bond picture.

The DB10 was good, but the jokes about the gadgets were a let down because I wanted to see what new creative defensive/offensive gadgets it had. His OMEGA watch, well, what more can I say? It was superlative!

I do believe SPECTRE had three of the most memorable lines that will stand out in my mind:

Mr. White: "You are a kite dancing in a hurricane, Mr. Bond."

Blofeld: "So, James Bond, why did you come?"
OO7: "I came here to kill you."
Blofeld: "And I thought you came here to die."
OO7: "Well, it's all a matter of perspective."

Blofeld: "It was me, James. It was all me. The author of all your pain."

Tom gets his fabrics from Ermenegildo Zegna. So, really he is wearing Zegna.

...No, he is wearing Ford. It is not the Fabric but the design. Prada sources materials from the same place as H&M for some work...it is still Prada.

In terms of the evil Plot it is actually a pretty good thread. Creating a shadow government agency that controls all intelligence information for the entire western alliance and is not governed by any agency or elected member...in other words the infamous shadow government. That is a pretty good one...much better than control of Water on south America for example.

Agreed Bautista is a very good choice.
